Business models from the 90s are used to transform the idea of entrepreneur in the value creation process. This paper presents a proposal to modify the concept of the business model according to A. Osterwalder and Y. Pigneur. It pointed out the need to pay attention to intangible assets while defining elements of the business model. Attention was also drawn to the appropriate integration of intangible and tangible assets, because the interaction of all elements of the business model can achieve synergistic effects that manifest themselves in gaining competitive advantage.

We contribute to the entrepreneurial intentions literature by applying the theory of planned behaviour and resource-based views to the model of active entrepreneurs’ intention to develop their pluriactive businesses. Using our 2012 survey data from farm firms in Finland, we address the limited focus on active entrepreneurs and their intentions to develop on-going income-generating, off-farm related business activities. We found that attitudinal proxy antecedents such as innovation, cooperation and growth for pluriactivity differ for active and non-active entrepreneurs and with respect to the entrepreneurs’ age and production line and innovation behaviour.

The research focuses on the setting-up of a free zone strengthening the economic diversification of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Dedicated to storage, handling and trading of high value items and in particular artworks and jewellery. The Luxembourg Freeport was inaugurated in September 2014. Using the Resource-Based View as theoretical framework, the paper aims to show what combinations of resources can have a positive impact on economic activities in connection with the Freeport. The research confirms that these activities go beyond pure logistical and operational sights. The findings highlight a triptych of resources justifying this location in an environment where art, finance and logistics seem to create a virtuous circle benefiting economic development of the country and promoting the rise of clustering effects.

Theoretical background: These studies are motivated by three reasons: (1) the Competitive Intelligence (CI) approach is a critical factor in increasing the organization’s ability to monitor and strengthen competitive advantage; (2) too little research has been done on the use of new management theories in the CI approach and (3) there is no research devoted to computer-assisted CI. Purpose of the article: This study proposes a comprehensive framework for extending the CI’s potential in the organization’s activities and its computer-assisted support. The purpose of this article is to develop a new CI construction theory and propose a holistic, conceptual CI model, as well as carry out its initial verification. Research methods: The comprehensive CI model is based on the following theories: (1) Resource-Based View (RBV), Industrial Organization (IO) and Business Model Canvas, which were used for CI design, (2) theories for measuring and validating CI implementation, i.e.: Competitive Profile Matrix (CPM), Industrial Critical Success Factors (ICSF) and (3) theories for integrated computer-assisted CI. The validation of the proposed comprehensive CI model was based on data on the opinions of SUV class users. Main findings: The results obtained during the validation of the CI model show great importance for a comprehensive look at the topic of computer-assisted CI. This contribution is significant because in the literature there are no such studies and conclusions obtained from them. The results obtained and conclusions should be useful for all organizations that need to analyze competitiveness using a comprehensive CI model.

W artykule zintegrowano dwa podejścia do CRM. Jedno z nich kładzie nacisk na cechy charakterystyczne zasobów, natomiast drugie koncentruje uwagę na zdolnościach organizacji. Powstała synteza stanowi dobrą podstawę koncepcyjną do zbudowania narzędzia diagnostycznego CRM. Użyteczność tego narzędzia zademonstrowano na przykładzie jednej z organizacji.

In studying CRM, one stream of research has underscores resource characteristics whereas another has concentrated on firm capabilities. I integrate these two perspectives as a conceptual basis for CRM diagnosis and demonstrate the usefulness of developed scale for given organization.

The article reviews and evaluates the main theoretical concepts of enterprise competitiveness. In particular, the authors focus on the evolutionary and cumulative nature of the development of enterprises. The article begins with an attempt to define the concept of enterprise competitiveness. The authors discuss various aspects of enterprise competitiveness understood as competitive potential, competitive strategy and competitive position. This is designed to not only provide a framework for defining these variables, but also suggest indicators that could be used in further empirical studies, Dzikowska and Gorynia say. Later in the article the authors trace the development of the concept of enterprise competitiveness in the context of the two basic approaches – the positioning approach and the resource-based view – highlighting differences between the two, including differences in terminology. The authors examine the relationships between different aspects of competitiveness resulting from both approaches. They also come up with a third, eclectic approach that combines selected features of the positioning and resource-based models. This new approach takes into account dynamic relationships between the analyzed aspects of competitiveness, Dzikowska and Gorynia say.

Trzecia z zaprezentowanych koncepcji stanowi próbę przedstawienia eklektycznego ujęcia łączącego cechy zarówno nurtu pozycjonowania, jak i zasobowego, a jednocześnie uwzględniającego charakter zależności występujących pomiędzy analizowanymi wymiarami konkurencyjności w ujęciu dynamicznym.
