Peculiar Features of Names of Household Objects in the Ukrainian Eastern Slobodian DialectsThis article presents an analysis of vocabulary of household objects in the Ukrainian Eastern Slobodian dialects. The area of vocabulary under discussion attracts the attention of researchers owing to its connection with material culture: it reflects human daily needs, social and economic living conditions and inter-ethnic contacts.Research on peculiarities of lexical composition of the local dialects in question remains relevant. The Eastern Slobodian dialects have emerged relatively recently and have been hardly investigated at all, which is why they are of great scholarly interest and require complex study. Special features of this dialectal system stem mainly from the fact that the area is unevenly populated by immigrants from different regions of Ukraine and Russia.The study presented in this article determined the quantitative composition of dialectal material and the functional role of particular lexical items under scrutiny; it also involved their lexical and semantic analysis. Considerable attention has been paid to tracking semantic parallels and differences between the dialects in focus and other dialectal continuums of the Ukrainian language, both the adjacent and more distant ones. In order to examine the interaction between the literary language and the Eastern Slobodian dialects, the lexical units on the record were compared with the national lexicon. The analysis revealed that most names of household objects found in the Eastern Slobodian dialects are in common general use, which indicates the influence of standard speech on the dialects under consideration. Szczególne cechy nazw przedmiotów użytku domowego w ukraińskich gwarach wschodniosłobodzkichNiniejszy artykuł przedstawia analizę słownictwa dotyczącego nazw przedmiotów użytku domowego w ukraińskich gwarach wschodniosłobodzkich. Słownictwo z tego zakresu przyciąga uwagę badaczy ze względu na związek z kulturą materialną: można w nim dostrzec codzienne ludzkie potrzeby, społeczne i ekonomiczne warunki życia i kontakty międzyetniczne.Badania nad szczególnymi cechami zasobu leksykalnego omawianych gwar są jak najbardziej uzasadnione. Gwary wschodniosłobodzkie ukształtowały się stosunkowo niedawno i są nadal słabo zbadane, co sprawia, że są niezmiernie interesujące pod względem językoznawczym i wymagają kompleksowych badań. W tym przypadku szczególne cechy systemu gwarowego wynikają głównie z faktu, że omawiany obszar jest nierównomiernie zasiedlony przez ludność napływową, pochodzącą z różnych regionów Ukrainy i Rosji.Podczas badania materiału ustalono jego skład ilościowy i funkcję poszczególnych składających się nań leksemów oraz przeprowadzono ich analizę leksykalną i semantyczną. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na prześledzenie podobieństw i różnic semantycznych między badanymi gwarami a sąsiednimi lub bardziej odległymi kontinuami dialektalnymi języka ukraińskiego. Aby ustalić interakcję pomiędzy omawianymi gwarami a językiem literackim, badane jednostki leksykalne porównano z ich ogólnoukraińskimi odpowiednikami. Analiza wykazała, że większość nazw przedmiotów użytku domowego występujących w gwarach wschodniosłobodzkich należy do powszechnie używanego słownictwa, co wskazuje na wpływ języka standardowego na badane gwary.

The goal of the paper is to present semantic virtuality as a linguistic problem, and to outline a proposition of a theoretical-methodological approach to the phenomenon. Based on the devices of French interpretative semantics (which uses the method of element analysis), I put forward a definition of virtual sense as a relevant absence of certain minial elements of content, which are made perceptible by their relation to units of the actual sense. I briefly present a typology of virtual semantic features which includes, on the one hand, definitional elements of content which undergo contextual visualization during the interpretation (neutralized semes), and on the other, interpretationally relevant alternatives of semes actualized in context (potential features).

Artykuł przedstawia synonimy funkcjonujące w tekstach współczesnej ukraińskiej prozy kobiecej. Analizowane są znaczenia jednostek leksykalnych wchodzących w relacje synonimiczne w określonych warunkach kontekstowych. Podano procesy semantyczne, w wyniku których następuje semantyczna wariacja w znaczeniach synonimów. Metodą analizy składowej opisano semantyczną kompozycję znaczeń synonimów: ujawniono całkowe, różnicowe i okazjonalne składowe semantyki wielu bliskich znaczeniowo słów. Wyjaśniono osobliwości transformacji składu rdzeni znaczeń słów pod wpływem kontekstu. Podkreśla się, że znaczenie słów pod wpływem kontekstu ulega pewnym zmianom, które warunkują postęp relacji synonimicznych.

This paper is devoted to synonyms that function in the texts of modern Ukrainian female prose. The meanings of lexical units that enter into synonymous relations under the certain contextual conditions are analyzed. The semantic processes during which there is a semantic variation in meanings of synonyms are given. Using the method of component analysis, the semantic composition of the meanings of synonyms is described: the integral, differential and occasional components of the semantics of synonyms are revealed. The peculiarities of the transformation of the seme structure of words meanings under the context influence are clarified. It is emphasized that words meaning under the influence of the context undergoes certain changes, which determines the promotion of synonymous relations.

У статті досліджено синоніми, що функціонують у текстах сучасної української жіночої прози. Проаналізовано значення лексичних одиниць, що вступають у синонімічні відношення за певних контекстуальних умов. Наведено семантичні процеси, за яких відбувається семне варіювання у значеннях синонімів. За допомогою методу компонентного аналізу описано семний склад значень синонімів: виявлено інтегральні, диференційні й оказіональні складники семантики низки близьких за значенням слів. З’ясовано особливості трансформації семного складу значень слів під впливом контексту. Наголошено, що значення слів під впливом контексту зазнає певних зрушень, що зумовлює поступ синонімічних відношень.

The lexical and discursive analysis proposed in this article is intended to show how and in what circumstances a new seme (ecological for our case studies) is being grafted to the virtual-dictionary-meaning of a word-term and what are the consequences. The presented lexical creations decryption and decortication are showing that each lexeme has a lexical-discursive profile that is progressively created, formed and attached to the statement in which it is located. Having noticed that speakers are knowingly pretending or not the opacity of their statements, we will see that the lexical-discursive profile allows a better understanding of lexical creations which abound in the press discourse.

Zaproponowana w artykule analiza leksykalno-dyskursywna ma na celu pokazanie, w jaki sposób i w jakich kontekstach nowo utworzony sem (w tym przypadku ‘ekologiczny’) nadaje nowe, dodatkowe, znaczenia wyrazom w dotychczasowych definicjach słownikowych, co wiąże się z pewnymi konsekwencjami leksykalnymi. Wyszukiwanie oraz szczegółowe analizowanie tego typu wytworów leksykalnych dowodzi, że każdy leksem ma swój określony profil leksykalno-dyskursywny, podążający za daną wypowiedzią, w której tworzy się i utrwala. Jako że niektórzy rozmówcy, świadomie lub nie, uciekają się do niejasnych wypowiedzi, chcemy pokazać, że profil leksykalno-dyskursywny umożliwia lepsze zrozumienie wspomnianych wytworów leksykalnych, w które obfituje dyskurs prasowy.

L’analyse lexico-discursive proposée dans cet article a pour but/ambition de montrer comment et dans quelles circonstances un sème nouveau (écologique pour nos cas étudiés) vient se greffer au sens virtuel-dictionnairique d’un mot-vocable et quelles en sont les conséquences. Le décryptage et la décortication des créations lexicales présentées prouvent que chaque lexème a un profil lexico-discursif qui se crée, se forme et se fixe au fur et à mesure de l’énoncé dans lequel il se trouve. Ayant remarqué que les locuteurs feignent sciemment ou non l’opacité de leurs énoncés, nous verrons que le profil lexico-discursif permet une meilleure compréhension des créations lexicales dont les discours de presse fourmillent.
