By the virtue of the European Parliament and Council Directive and appropriate agreements between the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations – NOT and the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI), since the beginning of 2013 it is possible to give the European Engineering Card to Polish engineers. The point of this document is to facilitate the mobility of engineers and recognition of their qualifications in Europe and several non-European countries with which FEANI has signed agreements. Poland is one of the first nine countries, which have joined the initiative. This paper presents amongst others what the Card is, what rights does it give, who and where grants it.

Od początku 2013 roku polscy inżynierowie mogą ubiegać się o europejską Kartę Zawodową Inżyniera. Karta ta jest zawodową legitymacją wydawaną w krajach euro-pejskich przez narodowego partnera Europejskiej Federacji Narodowych Stowarzy-szeń Inżynierskich (FEANI) na podstawie opracowanych przez FEANI wytycznych oraz procedur zapewnienia jakości [1, 2]. Legislacyjnym umocowaniem legitymacji inżynierskiej jest Dyrektywa Unii Europejskiej 2005/36/WE w sprawie uznawania kwalifikacji zawodowych. Karta została ustanowiona w celu ułatwienia poruszania się inżynierów po europejskim rynku pracy, ułatwienia rozmowy (a przynajmniej pierwszego kontaktu) z pracodawcą, daje możliwość odstąpienia pracodawcy od nostryfikacji dyplomu [3]. Należy ją też postrzegać jako czynnik zachęty i promocji zawodu inżyniera.
