Głównym celem autorki artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wizerunku gminy Uniejów oraz analiza działań promocyjnych. W pierwszej części pracy autorka przedstawiła profil łódzkiego studenta oraz źródła jego wiedzy o występowaniu wód geotermalnych, powstaniu Term Uniejów czy uzdrowiska Uniejów Park. W dalszej części artykułu zostały poruszone kwestie promocji gminy. Opinia publiczna ma istotne znaczenie, ponieważ umożliwia sprawniejsze zarządzanie tym procesem.

The main purpose of this article is to present the image of Uniejów and analyze promotional activities. In the first part the author presents the profile of students from Lodz and sources of knowledge about geothermal water, Termy Uniejów and Spa Uniejów Park. Next, an analysis of activities promoting the commune of Uniejów is provided. Public opinion is very important because it allows the efficient management of this process.

Przedmiotem rozważań autorki artykułu jest zagadnienie stanu jednego z aspektów świadomości społecznej – opinii społecznej, na przykładzie mieszkańców i osób odwiedzających Uniejów, odnośnie do wykorzystania wód geotermalnych. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań empirycznych nt. opinii i postaw wobec działań geotermalnych w Uniejowie, przeprowadzonych wśród przedstawicieli tych grup społecznych. Ważną kwestią poruszoną w artykule jest przedstawienie znaczenia poznania świadomości społecznej wykorzystania wód geotermalnych oraz czynników, sposobów i potrzeby jej kształtowania.

The paper investigates an highlights one aspect of social awareness concerning the use of geothermal waters, i.e. public opinion, on the example of Uniejów municipality residents and visitors. It presents the results of empirical research examining the opinions and attitudes of these social groups concerning geothermal activity in Uniejów. An important issue addressed in this article is demonstration of the importance of knowing the state of social awareness concerning utilisation of geothermal waters, as well as the need, factors and ways of shaping it.

W artykule zaprezentowano opinie mieszkańców Uniejowa oraz turystów, którzy co najmniej raz skorzystali z usług kompleksu termalno-basenowego „Termy Uniejów”, na temat jego atrakcyjności. W tym celu przeprowadzono wywiad kwestionariuszowy z przedstawicielami obu grup. Respondentów wybrano metodą doboru celowego, by móc uzyskać jak najbardziej zróżnicowaną grupę. Wywiad kwestionariuszowy uzupełniony badaniami terenowymi, opierającymi się na analizie tablic rejestracyjnych pojazdów zaparkowanych przed obiektem, umożliwił ukazanie zasięgu przestrzennego gości. Badania potwierdziły przypuszczenia autorki, której zdaniem powstanie obiektu znacząco wpłynęło na poprawę wizerunku gminy i zyskało uznanie zarówno wśród miejscowej ludności jak i odwiedzających turystów. Respondenci nie okazali się jednak bezkrytyczni w stosunku do obiektu i wskazali również na jego negatywne cechy. Niewątpliwie największy problem dla osób korzystających z obiektu stanowiły zbyt wysokie ceny biletów oraz bardzo długie kolejki przed obiektem, zwłaszcza w sezonie letnim.

The article presents the attractiveness of Thermal Complex of Uniejów in the opinion of Uniejów residents and the tourists who visited „Termy Uniejów” at least once. The author conducted a questionnaire survey of representatives of both groups for this purpose. The selection of respondents was aimed at getting the possibly greatest diversity of representatives. The questionnaire survey was supplemented by observations of license plates of cars which were parked in front of the Thermal Complex of Uniejów. It showed the spatial range of tourists. The studies confirmed the author’s thesis that the object has improved the image of the commune and caused satisfaction among the local population and visiting tourists. The respondents also pointed out negative aspects of „Termy Uniejów”. The main problems for people who have visited the object were the high cost of tickets and very long queues, mainly in the summer. A detailed analysis of the research findings allowed identification of the main factors determining the opinion about the object: age, sex, professional status and place of residence.

The use of symbols in politics is an important topic that is subject of many research projects. From the viewpoint of political science, man creates various signs to which certain values and meanings are attributed. The article describes the results of a survey of the University of Warsaw students’ opinions concerning the presence of selected nationalistic and fascistising symbols in the public sphere. It also presents the current state of research concerning in politics, research questions, the formulated hypotheses and the research methods used. The article also describes selected symbols used by national, nationalistic and fascistic organisations. The article also outlines how the symbols associated with the extreme right are perceived by the young people in Poland and what significance it could have in the context of the current political trends. The author underlines the importance of public opinion polls concerning nationalistic and fascistising symbols, especially in the context of the growing wave of nationalism and the extreme right in Europe. The survey, carried out in 2021-2022, revealed that the majority of the respondents negatively appraised the selected nationalistic and fascistising symbols, such as the black sun, the falanga or the Celtic cross. At the same time, some respondents found it difficult to identify individual symbols, which point to the need for more educations as regards the history and ideologies associated with those symbols. The conclusions drawn from the survey indicate the need for more education and greater sensitivity to those issues among young people, who are the future of our society.

The main purpose of the paper is to analyze the size and structure of housing stock located within the borders of Uniejów, as well as studying the existing dwelling conditions. In the first part of the article the authors present a brief historical overview of housing development and contemporary location of residential areas in the examined small town. Analysis of housing conditions, the results of which were presented in the second part of the paper, were based on surveys conducted in 2013, which also allowed to obtain an inhabitants’ opinions on the subject. The collected data and performed analysis of dwelling conditions in Uniejów lead to the conclusion that, in general, they have improved slightly in recent years (this is also a feature of the whole set of small towns in Poland).

High quality of life is increasingly regarded as the main development goal at local, regional, national and international level. Representatives of territorial units employ various strategies designed to improve the residents’ living conditions, which translates into higher quality of life. This, however, would not be possible without taking into account the opinions and preferences of the residents. Public opinion is a key element in taking actions to enhance the quality of life because it makes the management of this process more effective. This article presents the results of surveys concerning evaluation of selected aspects of the quality of life in Uniejów, such as accessibility of certain services and functioning of key institutions in the town. The findings have not only the cognitive character but can also be valuable in practical applications.
