The central question in this article is how teachers socialize pupils. Our hypothesis is that socialization takes place when an individual identifies something as a problem or as undesirable. In the process of socialization, teachers sometimes make mistakes. Attempting to hide these mistakes, however, may result in new or even greater mistakes. D. Kahneman implies that people do not like loss or failure. People attempt to justify earlier incorrect decisions by often undergoing senseless stress and exertion. People agree to exert themselves to guarantee what in their opinion is a fair and equitable solution to a particular situation. Subjective probabilities play an important role in our lives. This paper presents the results of an ethnographical study of education. Our findings suggest that mistakes and negativity contribute to strengthening norms be cause "bad is more representative than good". In addition to negativity, teachers try to teach norms through collegial responsibility and conscience, and regulation is important at every step. This study concludes that both success and failure are constantly renewed in a cycle. That is why people tend to use earlier behaviour models, including self-evaluation and beliefs, which are continually actualized. The importance of a supportive, positive, and optimistic learning environment cannot be underestimated. The concept of psychologically sustainable education requires greater in-depth study.

This paper describes the leadership style which can sustain education in Botswana community junior secondary schools (CJSS). The concept was examined based on the policy of education in Botswana, Botswana's vision for 2016 and the current situation in schools. Data was collected by means of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews from a random sample of community junior secondary school teachers and head-teachers in Botswana. The data suggests that the head-teacher's leadership style affects teachers' and pupils' attitude towards a job and studies and that a participatory leadership style promotes sustainable education in schools. These findings can be useful for education policy makers, school administrators and researchers seeking to promote sustainable improvement in education.

Implementation of participatory action research during pedagogical practice facilitates sustainable education because its objective is to understand professional practice, enrich the capacity of involved participants and an opportunity to make inquiries for the improvement of quality. In the research of professional practice, subjects explore themselves; research is critically informative, active and action-oriented. Basing on the analysis of the prospective teachers' professional independence formation during pedagogical practice, the conditions for the individual's sustainable professional development are updated, the principles of organising pedagogical practice are determined. The experts' opinion method was applied in the evaluation of the developed practice model. Four experts from four Latvian universities were involved in the questionnaire; the content analysis of expert opinions was performed. As a result, the opportunities of the developed model to ensure sustainable education as well as its strengths and weaknesses were determined. Activation of the holistic and action approaches to develop students' independent professional activity and ensure sustainable education, cooperation context, targeted planning of the student-centred process, orientation to students' self-experience, respect of research aspects were completely appreciated.

This article describes the experience gained during the implementation of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module “European Union Language Policy” (EULP) in Ukraine. Ukraine has chosen a course of EU integration, a decision that has significantly affected its political, cultural, and social life. Participation in Erasmus+ projects facilitates Ukraine`s rapid and effective introduction to EU sustainable education practices. The EULP project team consisted of Ukrainian and Lithuanian academicians who together developed the programme of the course, focusing on five target groups: graduate students, post-graduate students, high school teachers, researchers, and civil society representatives. The EULP’s sustainable and multidisciplinary approach combines linguistic and cultural competences necessary for Ukrainian citizens in view, joining the European Union in the future. Our observations demonstrate that an increasing number of educational courses that combine professional training with expanding knowledge about the EU facilitate the process of reforming and integrating Ukraine into the common EU education area.

Nowadays, teacher professionalization has been upgrading and the status, training and working conditions of teachers have received a great deal of interest for sustainable education. It is recognized that if teachers are equipped with adequate professional knowledge and personal practical knowledge, they will become active curriculum planners at schools - and will have the potentials to transform from “cook” to “chef” in teaching. Therefore, in-service training of teachers is one of the most effective ways of sharing professional experiences and a medium of sustainable education in the society. Based on the existing literature, the present study was conducted to investigate the preschool teachers’ needs about in-service training courses (INSET) to suggest an effective INSET model based on their INSET needs assessment for sustainable education in a Turkish setting. A questionnaire consisting of fixed-response, open-ended and Likertstyle questions was administered to preschool teachers (n=133) currently working in Tokat, one of the vicinities of Turkey, to obtain information about their background characteristics and to determine their conceptions and needs for INSET for sustainable education. The study comprises two steps. As a first stage, socio-demographic structures of the INSET participants are analyzed in respect to different variables. In the second stage, the preferences of the INSET participants are analyzed regarding before in-service training, while in-service training and after in-service training process.
