The issues of theatre’s contemporary role in political history and exploitation of history in theatre have not been comprehensively researched yet. The article is an attempt to discussion about the political use of theatre in Poland under two different regimes: authoritarian period of Władysław Gomułka’s rule and democratic period of Jarosław Kaczyński’s government. The most crucial experience of instrumental exploition of theatrical scene in political intrigue was analysed: the case of Dziady (Forefathers’ Eve) played in the National Theatre’s season 1967/68. The second part of the argument was focused on the phenomenon of TV Theate’s “Scena Faktu” (“Docudrama”) – the series of 25 spectacles inspired by obscure event of contemporary history, deprived of objectivity and exposing the educational role of patriotict conduct promotion rather than artistic aspect. The problem of both analysed cases is about the authority engagement in theatre and illustrates the model of historical and cultural politics of both compared periods.

Niniejszy artykuł poświęcony jest roli, jaką literatura i teatr odgrywają w edukacji elementarnej. Dynamika zmian zachodzących w systemach oświaty oraz zróżnicowanie postulatów kierowanych pod adresem współczesnej edukacji sprawiają, iż przywołane w tytule zagadnienia podlegają często marginalizacji – zauważalnej zarówno w sferze planowania pracy dydaktyczno-wychowawczej nauczycieli, jak i w obszarze praktyki edukacyjnej, jaką realizuje szkoła. Niniejsze opracowanie, przywołując najważniejsze procesy zachodzące w życiu dziecka, służy zwróceniu uwagi na dydaktyczny, poznawczy i wychowawczy, ale także terapeutyczny i wspierający potencjał literatury i teatru oraz możliwości jego wykorzystania w edukacji elementarnej dziecka zdrowego i dotkniętego chorobą.

This article is devoted to the role and the meaning of literature and theatre in elementary education. The dynamics of changes in education systems and demands directed at contemporary education make the issues referred to in the title marginalized, which is noticeable in the planning of the teachers’ methodology, as well as in the area of educational practice implemented at school. This study, citing the most important processes occurring in a child’s life, pays attention to the educational and cognitive, but also therapeutic and supportive, potential of the literature and theatre and the possibilities of their usage in elementary education of the healthy and illness-affected child.
