In this case described aims and tasks of the palliative care. Even though we are in contact with her in Poland for over 30 years still is incorrectly understood. Understanding the situation of the patient and his family lets proper selection the institution meeting their needs. They concentrated on the terminal phase of illness, in which we have for becoming many pathological complaints. Major issues essential for symptom control for patients in terminal phase are presented in the article.

W niniejszym artykule zwrócono uwagę na cele i zadania opieki paliatywnej. Mimo, że w Polsce istnieje od ponad 30 lat, to jednak nadal jest błędnie rozumiana. Zrozumienie sytuacji pacjenta i jego rodziny pozwala na dobór odpowiedniej dla niego instytucji. Skupiono się szczególnie na chorych w terminalnej fazie choroby, w której pacjenci odczuwają nasilenie dolegliwości. Główną kwestią poruszaną w artykule jest przede wszystkim zespołowa kontrola i leczenie objawów.
