This article presents a collection of historical photographs in the Diocesan Archives in Zielona Góra, which holds not only photographs documenting the ecclesiastical life of the diocese of Zielona Góra and Gorzów, but also those acquired from secular institutions and laypeople. The study aims to show the process of building up this collection (since 2003). The publication focuses on the creation of the Zielona Góra Diocesan Archives and presents an inventory of the photographic documentation, as well as a method of preserving and making it available to searchers. As of 31 July 2021, the photograph collection (group no. 50) comprised 12,488 items. An electronic inventory of the photographs is available on the website of the Diocesan Archives in Zielona Góra. The collected visual documentation is an open collection, to which successive photographs are still added. As far as recommendations are concerned, the entire collection should be digitalized in the future. This article is the first publication on the photographs in the holdings of the Zielona Góra Diocesan Archives and is a contribution to more detailed research. This study could be useful to researchers working with visual sources, notably regional and church historians as well as those who are passionate about old and new photographs.

Fotografie historyczne stanowią doskonały materiał źródłowy, który gromadzą i przechowują wszystkie archiwa. Tematem publikacji jest zbiór fotografii w zasobie Archiwum Diecezjalnego w Zielonej Górze, które przechowuje nie tylko fotografie dokumentujące życie kościelne diecezji zielonogórsko-gorzowskiej, ale gromadzi też te, które pochodzą od instytucji i osób świeckich. Celem opracowania jest ukazanie, jak ten zbiór powstawał (od 2003 r.). Publikację rozpoczyna opis powstania zielonogórskiego Archiwum Diecezjalnego, gdzie znajduje się omawiany zbiór fotografii. W dalszej części opracowania przedstawiono inwentaryzację dokumentacji fotograficznej oraz sposób przechowywania i udostępniania jej kwerendzistom. Na dzień 31 lipca 2021 r. zbiór fotografii (zespół nr 50) liczy 12 488 jednostek. Inwentarz elektroniczny fotografii znajduje się na stronie internetowej Archiwum Diecezjalnego w Zielonej Górze (http://archiwum.diecezjazg.pl). Gromadzona dokumentacja wizualna jest zbiorem otwartym, który uzupełniają kolejne dopływy fotografii. Zadaniem na przyszłość jest cyfryzacja zbioru. Opracowanie jest pierwszą publikacją na temat fotografii w zasobie zielonogórskiego Archiwum Diecezjalnego i stanowi przyczynek do podjęcia bardziej szczegółowych badań. Może być ono przydatne dla badaczy pracujących ze źródłami wizualnymi. Powinni do nich sięgać regionaliści, historycy Kościoła oraz osoby, których pasjonują dawne i nowe fotografie.
