The Jewish war by Henryk Grynberg is a record of emotions and experiences related to the Holocaust. By creating their image, the author combines individual, childhood mem-ories with the memory of his mother and the survivors from his immediate environment. Linguistic expression plays a fundamental role in their presentation.In Grynberg’s work understatements marked with ellipsis are very important, which testifies to its multilayeredness. The goal of my article was to show the motivation of human behavior in specific situations and psychological defense mechanisms.
