The aim of the paper was to identify the scope of commodity science (understood as quality sciences) as well as its place and role in teaching programs. The research was conducted using direct (personal) interview, which is a typical technique for qualitative analysis. The empirical part of the study defines the scope and challenges of modern commodity science in the curricula of universities. The author's contribution is the implementation of pioneering qualitative research and systematization of obtained results.

Celem opracowania była identyfikacja zakresu towaroznawstwa (rozumianego jako nauki o jakości) oraz jego miejsca i roli w programach nauczania. Badanie przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem wywiadu bezpośredniego (osobistego), który jest techniką typową dla analiz jakościowych. W części empirycznej opracowania określono zakres oraz wyzwania nowoczesnego towaroznawstwa w programach nauczania uczelni wyższych. Wkładem autorki jest realizacja pionierskiego badania jakościowego i usystematyzowanie uzyskanych wniosków.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki analiz w zakresie określenia specyfiki kierunku studiów towaroznawstwo. Celem opracowania była identyfikacja specyfiki, wymagań oraz przesłanek wyboru kierunku studiów towaroznawstwo. Badanie empiryczne przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem wywiadu bezpośredniego (osobistego), który jest techniką typową dla analiz jakościowych. Ankietowani odpowiadali na 9 pytań o charakterze otwartym. Uczestnicy projektu reprezentowali 4 ośrodki, które posiadają uprawnienia akademickie z dyscypliny nauki o zarządzaniu i jakości (do 2018 roku towaroznawstwo). Analiza informacji zebranych w toku badania empirycznego pozwoliła stwierdzić, że kierunek towaroznawstwo to studia o charakterze interdyscyplinarnym, które oferują słuchaczowi bardzo rozległą wiedzę. Przewagą nad innymi kierunkami jest także możliwość uzyskania tytułu zawodowego inżyniera.

In the paper the results of analyses concerning of peculiarity of the commodity science faculty are presented. The aim of the elaboration was to identify the peculiarity, requirements and premises of choosing the commodity science faculty. The empirical research was conducted with the use of a direct interview which is a technique typical for quantitative analyses. Respondents answered 9 open questions. Representants of the 4 entities possessing full academic qualifications concerning the discipline management and quality sciences took part in the project. Analysis of the gathered information allowed to claim that the commodity science faculty is an interdisciplinary one and offers a very wide knowledge to the students. Also a possibility of gaining a professional title of engineer constitutes an advantage over another faculties
