Wspomnienia osobiste są związane bezpośrednio z biografią rodzinną jednostki, mimo swojej fragmentaryczności i niepełności mogą stanowić dopełnienie pamięci miejsca, przywołując zdarzenia życia codziennego pomijane w oficjalnych zapisach historycznych. Indywidualizacja i personalizacja przeszłości miejsca, w moim przekonaniu, mają znaczny wpływ na tożsamość jednostki i grupy lokalnej.

Personal memories directly related to family biography of the individual despite their fragmentariness and incompleteness may complement the past of the place, recalling events from everyday life omitted in official historical records. Individualization and personalization of the past of the place, in my opinion, have a considerable influence on the identity of the individual and the local group.

In the article there were used fragments of housekeeper’s and maid’s memories employed by Henryk Sienkiewicz. The story – preserved in the archives of Polish Radio – shows daily routine of a Polish writer. So we get to know the author of Quo Vadis through the memories of people who had direct and often long-term contact with him. It extends the context for exploring the notions and interpretation of the Sienkiewicz’s works. The article also uses the writer’s correspondence and other written sources, broadening the circumstances of knowledge about Sienkiewicz – as an individual and public figure.

W artykule wykorzystano fragmenty wspomnień ochmistrzyni i służącej zatrudnianych przez Henryka Sienkiewicza. Relacja – zachowana w archiwach Polskiego Radia – pokazuje codzienną egzystencję polskiego pisarza. Poznajemy więc autora Quo vadis dzięki wspomnieniom osób, które miały z nim bezpośredni, często wieloletni kontakt. Poszerza to kontekst do poznawania jego poglądów i interpretacji twórczości. W artykule wykorzystano także korespondencję pisarza i inne źródła pisane, poszerzające wiedzę o Sienkiewiczu – osobie publicznej i prywatnej.
