Rozwój lokalny rozumieć można jako proces wpływający na relacje między produkcją i konsumpcją oraz lokalne warunki życia na danym terytorium. W artykule przybliżono temat w przekroju powiatów województwa lubuskiego. Dokonano analizy opisowej struktury pracujących oraz zbadano zmiany wielkości produkcji sprzedanej przemysłu według powiatów. W celu modelowania zależności dotyczących kształtowania się produkcji sprzedanej, ze względu na specyfikę danych, użyto modele panelowe. Estymacji i weryfikacji, na tle zwykłego modelu regresji, poddano modele z efektami ustalonymi i losowymi.

Local development can be understood as a process affecting the relation between production and consumption, and local living conditions in a given territory. The topic of the cross-section of poviats of the Lubuskie Voivodeship was presented in this dissertation. A descriptive analysis of the structure of employed was carried out and the changes in the volume of sold production of industry by poviats were examined. In order to model dependencies regarding the development of sold production, due to the specificity of the data, panel models were used. The models with fixed and random effects were subjected to estimation and verification in the context of the pooled regression model.

In the article there are results of modeling the relations between development of SME sector, foreign capital inflow, innovations of companies, structural changes in employment and economic growth in regions were presented. Soft modeling was applied as a research method. This method enables to analyse relations occurring between variables of multivariate nature which can be ob- served through various indicators. With this objective in view, creation of 25 diagnostic variables from the period of 1999-2007 was considered. Results of the research confirm the essential influ- ence of the distinguished factors in the process of economic growth in regions. They also indicate increase of disproportion of its level in the researched period.

Rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy jest zróżnicowany w wymiarze przestrzennym. Podstawowymi jednostkami są w tym wymiarze województwa. W artykule ocenie poddano poziom rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego województwa lubuskiego na szczeblu powiatów. Zastosowano w tym celu metody porządkowania liniowego. Wykorzystano mierniki oparte zarówno o jeden, jak i dwa wzorce. Określono powiaty o wyższym i niższym poziomie rozwoju. Wyniki wskazują, że bardziej właściwe jest stosowanie mierników opartych o dwa wzorce. Rozbieżność wyników jest mniejsza, a otrzymane rankingi bardziej zbieżne do siebie.

Socio-economic development is varied in spatial aspect. Voivodeships are in this aspect the basic administrative units. The article presents assessment of socio-economic development level of Lubuskie Voivodeship at the powiat level. For this purpose, objects ordering method was applied. Indicators based on one or two models were used. This allows for determining powiats of higher and lower level of development. The results indicate that it is more appropriate to use indicators based on two models. Differences in results are lower and received rankings are more convergent.

The aim of the paper is to first identify the factors which determine the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector as an element of region’s competitive performance and then to determine their impact on economic performance, income and employment in the sector. The analyses were conducted for NUTS 3 for the period 2009–2011. Sixteen different diagnostic variables were adopted to describe entrepreneurship, innovativeness and competitiveness. Soft modelling was employed as a method to quantify regional competitiveness of the manufacturing sector as it allows an estimation of aggregate measures for latent variables and their interrelations.
