Poles’ Commitment to the Rights of Political Dissenters

Empirical research on support for democracy and democratic values in Eastern Europe has proliferated in the last decade and a half. Based on survey data from a recent, nationally representative survey of Polish public opinion, I contribute to this growing literature by exploring the dynamics of Poles’ support for the rights of political dissenters. Using multivariate regression analysis, I model the relationships between a variety of socio-political assessments and support for political dissenters’ rights. I find that Poles’ support for the rights of political dissenters is far from uniform and varies as a function of authoritarianism, approval of the government in power, anomie, education, and (marginally) gender. I conclude with a discussion of my findings’ implications for democratic consolidation in Poland.

The article is devoted to the new look at property management in the context of sustainable development trend which is a result of objective reasons taking place in the global economy, environmental requirements, social demands and the available technology. T he need for a new approach to property management is dictated by the land development on Earth, for the latest 2030 forecasts assume that over 30 % of the population will be living and working in cities. This is an enormous challenge for the entire real estate market, its participants, but also for the theoreticians in the field of management science .

Artykuł poświęcony jest nowemu spojrzeniu na zarządzanie nieruchomościami w kontekście trendu zrównoważonego rozwoju, który wynika z przyczyn obiektywnych zachodzących w globalnej gospodarce, wymogów środowiska, oczekiwań społecznych oraz dostępnych technologii. Konieczność stosowania nowego podejścia do zarządzania nieruchomościami podyktowana jest zagospodarowaniem przestrzeni na Ziemi, gdyż najnowsze prognozy do 2030 roku zakładają, że ponad 30% ludności będzie zamieszkiwało i pracowało w miastach. Stanowi to ogromne wyzwanie dla całego rynku nieruchomości, jego wszystkich uczestników, ale także dla teoretyków w zakresie nauk o zarządzaniu.

Artykuł zawiera analizę dyrektywy parlamentu europejskiego w sprawie raportowania informacji niefinansowych oraz rezolucji w sprawie społecznej odpowiedzialności przedsiębiorstw: dbanie o interesy obywateli a droga do trwałego ożywienia gospodarczego sprzyjającego włączeniu społecznemu, oraz innych wybranych dokumentów. Inicjatywy UE wskazują na bardzo ważną rolę regulacji ponadnarodowych w celu zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa obrotu gospodarczego, kreowania gospodarki bezemisyjnej, propagowania społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu, uwzględniania potencjału jaki daje internet w gospodarce globalnej. Autorka podkreśla, że we współczesnej gospodarce wiedzy o przewadze konkurencyjnej decyduje kapitał intelektualny oraz zrównoważony rozwój. Dlatego też UE, której celem jest stworzenie najbardziej innowacyjnej gospodarki, obecnie stawia tak wysokie wymagania podmiotom gospodarczym działającym na jej terenie.
