The article discusses the place and role of idioms (phraseological units) in the development of the cultural and linguistic competences of students. Idioms act as a link between the language and culture of the people, are a source of knowledge of Belarusian culture, and a means of mastering moral and spiritual values, both universal and national. It is proposed to organize a systematic study and careful reading of idioms as microtexts taking their complex semantics and diverse cultural information into account.

У артыкуле даводзіцца аб месцы і ролі ў развіцці культурна-моўнай кампетэнцыі навучэнцаў фразеалагізмаў, што выступаюць злучальным звяном паміж мовай і культурай народа, з’яўляюцца крыніцай пазнання культуры беларусаў, сродкам засваення ўласцівых і характэрных беларусам маральных і духоўных каштоўнасцей, агульначалавечых і нацыянальна адметных. Прапануецца арганізоўваць сістэматычнае вывучэнне і ўважлівае прачытанне фразеалагізмаў як мікратэкстаў з іх складанай семантыкай і шматстайнай культурнай інфармацыяй.
