This article shows an attempt to portray the structure of utopian so-cialism of the early nineteenth century in the context of mythical imagi-nation. The presented topic focuses on three key projects created by Claude Henri de Saint-Simon, Charles Fourier and Robert Owen. Their ideas, determined at a later time as socialist, were the main source of in-spiration for later utopianists and were also the most holistic systems, looking for unveiling all the possible laws, and then create the basis for many visions of tomorrow, based on two key ideas: human nature and progress. Both of these categories, taken from the myths of the En-lightenment, established a pattern, which appealed to all the successive representatives of contemporary utopian thought. The aim of the analysis is not strictly historical, but it makes an important attempt to explain the presented utopian ideas in the perspective of the mythological worldview, and how it affects the shape of articulated ideological solu-tions and created forms. Therefore, the main focus has been devoted to the analysis of the features of individual utopia – on the one hand spe-cific to the early nineteenth-century social consciousness, on the other hand functionalized with mythical imagery, confirming the possibility of bringing the idea of perfection on a relatively limited number of ways.

The aim of the article is to look at the writing activity of Saint Athanasius the Great, the bishop of Alexandria (296–373). We will examine his writings in terms of Mariology. This famous Father of the Church, remembering the bloody persecution of Christians, had to defend Christian doctrine as a bishop during whole his life. For it was a time when a certain Arius propagated the theory according to which Jesus Christ is subordinate to God the Father. He was also a great propagator of the teaching of the Council of Ephesus. We do not focus on the analysis of source texts, but on showing the whole context and background of activity of the Bishop of Alexandria. During his ministry he struggled with the heresy of Arianism. In his Mariology, Saint Athanasius defended the truth of the Incarnation, which confirms the true Divinity and true humanity of Christ. He spoke about the Mother of God (Theotókos), and he praised Mary’s virginity. In conclusion, we can say that the Mariology of St. Athanasius should be sought in his Christology, because this is the main subject of his writings.

Pope John Paul II was a prophet of our age. As a leader of the Catholic Church, with a respect for a Tradition, he continued some ideas about dialog with Islam according documents of II Vatican Council, especially constitution Lumen gentium and declaration Nostra aetate. From the other way Pope was a precursor of dialog with Muslim world, because of circumstances which are always new. The main merit of Pope’s apostolic mission in this case was a fact, that John Paul II was able to put theory in practice. A declaration of dialog he tried to make real. He touched Muslim world not only in a paper (declarations, homilies, speeches), but he experienced a spirit of Islam in hearts of Muslim’s he met during his pilgrimages and meetings in Vatican. In the article we have a presentation of all Pope’s activities which built dialog with Islam.

The works of Averroes belong to the heritage of both East (dar al-Islam) and West (orbis christianorum). In the circle of Muslim culture he has become the representative of the Andalusian rationalism. He tried to enter the Aristotelian discourse on the exegesis of the Qur’an and to show that philosophy is contained in the holy book of Islam. Particularly important was the methodology for arriving at the truth by demonstration which is the highest form of logical deduction. Averroes tried to argue that because the Quran contains everything, it also includes philosophy. He used verses of the Quran as premises in syllogistic evidence. His solutions were interesting but finally have been marginalized by the Muslim orthodoxy and he was banished. In the West, Averroes was known as a commentator of Aristotle. However, his original works were little known. In his commentary on the De Anima some medieval thinkers have found a few controversies. The most important of these were the theory of monopsychism, recognition of determinism and eternity of the world and the negation of God’s providence. Recent studies on the works of Averroes have shown that the many allegations made against him were not sufficient justification against his works. Controversy over Averroes show that he is a tragic figure. Although he could have become a bridge between East and West, he was rejected by both parties.

The article is an attempt at an interdisciplinary look at time. The concept of time is equivocal, and thus interpreted differently by various sciences. The presentation of time issue starts with the domain of economics, by describing time by means of using economic categories such as market, supply, demand, value, price, profit and loss. The economic analysis is concentrated around a question how much time costs, and how much free time costs. Further on the issue is presented from a philosophical perspective, followed by theological concepts of time. They all are linked by a reference to Christian understanding of time based on the person of Jesus Christ, who became “the fullness of time” and the centre of the history. The interdisciplinary analysis enables looking at time as an assignment, the taking of which by a man in his earthly life makes him open to the eternity.
