The purpose of this article is to present a new type of Polish temporary legislation – “incidental statutes”, as well as problems related to defining them, and to present others types of temporary legislation – episodic, periodic, experimental and sunset legislation. Differentiating between these types of temporary legislation and grouping them under the term of “incidental legislation” helps with the basic understanding of the problem. To present the entire picture, the paper also includes a subchapter (I.4) dedicated to ad hoc legislation, which in fact is not part of incidental legislation when considering the method of distinguishing such regulations. The main subject of the paper is presented in chapter II entitled „Forms of Incidental Legislation” which is divided into 5 subchapters – each dedicated to certain type of incidental legislation and one to ad hoc legislation. The first subchapter discusses sunset legislation. The second subchapter concerns periodic legislation, which is a continental answer to sunset legislation. The third subchapter addresses experimental legislation, which has been now attracting more attention in Poland. Chapter 4, as was it said before, is dedicated to ad hoc legislation, and the last one, concerns the episodic legislation regulated in Principles of Legislative Techniques (Legislative Drafting Principles).
