Semantic Aspects in Comparing German and Polish Phraseological UnitsThis paper explains that the traditional semasiological presentation of idioms in dictionaries is not useful to describe phraseological near synonyms called quasi-synonyms or asymmetric polysems. The onomasiological approach to phraseological units is a better way to find semantic differences between phraseological false friends in two languages. The ariticle compares selected phraseological examples from bilingual dictionaries with its meanings in monolingual dictionaries. In this this way, the author demonstrates, among others, why the German idiom das Gras wachsen hören is not equivalent to the Polish analogical idiom słyszeć, co w trawie piszczy.

The current article builds on the monograph „Somatische und emotionale Konzepte in der deutschen und polnischen Phraseologie“ [Somatic and Emotional Concepts in German and Polish Phraseology] (2013) and also presents selected new lexicographic ideas that have appeared in works of German-speaking and Polish scholars. The phraseological examples come from the current discourse on the Covid-19 pandemic. Phraseologisms as well as metaphorical concepts can provide important signals for discourse analysis and constitute lexicographic material that can be narratively described in a discourse dictionary.

Dieser Artikel knupft an die Monographie „Somatische und emotionale Konzepte in der deutschen und polnischen Phraseologie“ (2013) an und prasentiert auch die neuen ausgewahlten lexikographischen Vorschlage im deutschen und polnischen Kulturraum. Phraseologische Beispiele stammen aus dem aktuellen Diskurs uber die Covid-19-Pandemie. Sowohl Phraseologismen als auch metaphorische Konzepte konnen wichtige Signale fur die Diskursanalyse liefern und bilden ein lexikographisches Material, das in einem Diskursworterbuch narrativ beschrieben werden kann.

Artykuł jest formą zachęty do rozwoju dwujęzycznej leksykografii onomazjologicznej, która może szczególnie pomóc w pracy tłumaczom. Poza tym znajdujemy w nim opis jednojęzycznych słowników niemieckich i polskich, które przynajmniej częściowo mają charakter onomazjologiczny. Opisana została również literatura naukowa na temat teoretycznych aspektów tego typu słowników. Na końcu przedstawiono formę techniki zwaną ‚clustering‘, która polega na grupowaniu związków frazeologicznych według kluczowych pojęć na przykładzie konceptualizacji ‚przesady‘ w obu językach.

The article is a plea for a bilingual onomasiological lexicography which may be especially helpful for translators. Furthermore, the reader can find here a description of German and Polish dictionaries which are at least partially onomasiological and the presentation of the linguistical literature about the theoretical aspects of the onomasiological dictionaries. The article concludes with the presentation of the ‚clustering‘ technique whose basic idea is the rearrangement of the phraseological units according to the key notions. The presentation is done on the example of the ‚exaggeration‘ concept.

Dieser Beitrag ist ein Plädoyer für eine zweisprachige onomasiologische Lexikographie, die besonders Übersetzern bei ihrer Arbeit hilfreich sein kann. Darüber hinaus bietet der Artikel einen Überblick über einsprachige deutsche und polnische Wörterbücher, die wenigstens zum Teil onomasiologisch sind. Auch die wissenschaftliche Literatur zu theoretischen Aspekten solcher Lexika wird analysiert. Zum Schluss werden praktische Lösungsmöglichkeiten skizziert und die ‚Clustering‘-Technik, die auf der Gruppierung von Phraseologismen unter Leitbegriffe basiert, am Beispiel des Konzeptes ‚Übertreibung‘ in beiden Sprachen dargestellt.
