Jakubowska tries to describe the complicated narrative structure of Has' film The Hour-Glass Sanatorium (Sanatorium pod Klepsydra, 1973) with the help of layered organization of film text. Separated temporal sections reveal various strata of Joseph's memory (childhood - youth - maturity), and permit one to enter the narrative organization of text. In the analytical part of the article a literary strategies of Bruno Schulz are demonstrated and compared with solutions proposed by Has. In the theoretical part of the article the temporal layers and order of the text and the film are presented using the theoretical categories borrowed from Paul Ricoeur's Time and Narrative. The author demonstrates that the dominant aspect of multilayered temporal structure of the film is found in multiple points of view of narration and the introduction of multiple narrative voices, that are assigned differed temporal contexts.
