The article concerns the identification of the logistics development and logistics performance as the important sector/field of the economy in the European Union countries. Taking into account an increasing significance of the logistics area for the development of the economy, the article presents an attempt to the benchmarking the all expenses in the modern logistics sector (the volume of logistics market) and its potential and performance in the EU countries. Depicted research and analysis allows formulation some observations, indicating the emerging tendencies and regularities in a tested range of the research.

Artykuł dotyczy identyfikacji rozwoju oraz osiągnięć logistyki jako ważnego sektora/sfery gospodarczej w krajach Unii Europejskiej. Mając na uwadze rosnące stale znaczenie sfery logistyki dla rozwoju gospodarczego, podjęto próbę analizy porównawczej i oceny całkowitych wydatków w sferze współczesnej logistyki (wolumenu rynku logistyki) oraz jej potencjału i osiągnięć w krajach UE. Zaprezentowane w artykule dociekania i analiza pozwoliły na sformułowanie pewnych refleksji, wskazujących na zarysowujące się tendencje i prawidłowości w badanym zakresie.

The article concerns the identification of megatrends affecting and dynamizing the directions of logistics and supply chain management. The author present world-widely known results of the research concerning the structuring of the megatrends and challenges of the contemporary logistics. Based on the researched megatrends within the literature as well as the own research, the author shown in the hierarchical way basic megatrends, taking into advance the attempt of the identification of the nature and structure of the megatrends as well as their influence symptoms on the development and functioning of logistics. The combinations of megatrends show the scope and intensity of the changes concerning the formulation of the new strategic undertaking within the area of logistics and supply chain management.

Artykuł poświęcony jest identyfikacji megatrendów determinujących oraz dynamizujących kierunki rozwoju logistyki i zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw (SCM). Autor prezentuje znane w skali światowej wyniki badań dotyczące strukturyzacji megatrendów i wyzwań współczesnej logistyki. W oparciu o częstość i ważność wskazań badanych megatrendów w literaturze oraz własne badania, autor wskazał w ujęciu hierarchicznym podstawowe megatrendy, podejmując próbę identyfikacji ich istoty i struktury oraz przejawów oddziaływania na rozwój i funkcjonowanie logistyki. Kombinacje megatrendów, wyznaczają zakres i intensywność zmian odnośnie formułowania nowych przedsięwzięć strategicznych w sferze logistyki i SCM.

Koncepcje i metody badań kosztów logistyki oraz ich usytuowanie w skali światowej

The development of research and methodology for the identification and quantification of the level and structure of logistics costs and their determinants within the world is very important to recognize the status as well as the trends of development of logistics costs. As a result, it is possible to make rational decisions in the field of logistics processes management and contemporary logistics potential creation. The article presents an overview and assessment of the current research on the diagnosis and quantification of the logistics costs in a global scale. Particular attention was paid to the categorization of the main dimensions of the used and developed research concepts, to the methodology and application of the research, and to the geographical location of the research undertaken and continued. Subsequently, the paper presents a comparison of the logistics costs level in several countries and their place within Logistics Performance Index (LPI) ranking, which is characterized by performance and “health” of the global logistics. The research results may confirm the hypothesis that the countries with the steadily growing interest in research and rationalization of logistics costs can reach a high position in the LPI ranking and vice versa. In the light of the issues outlined above the new emerging trends and challenges have been indicated.

Rozwój badań i metodologii w zakresie identyfikacji i kwantyfikacji poziomu i struktury kosztów logistyki w skali światowej oraz upowszechnianie doświadczeń w tym zakresie mają istotne znaczenie dla pogłębienia, a także zobiektywizowania stanu rozpoznania tendencji rozwojowych kosztów i ich determinant oraz dla utrwalenie Świadomości o rosnącej roli logistyki we współczesnej gospodarce jako orientacji i systemowe determinanty wzrostu efektywności przedsiębiorstw. W artykule przedstawiono przegląd i ocenę aktualnych badań w diagnostyce i kwantyfikacji kosztów logistycznych w skali globalnej.

The article concerns the identification of the contemporary logistics identity as well as the development of the theoretical logistics concepts towards the scientific discipline. The discussion about logistics evolution and logistics scientific paradigm emergence has been presented from a perspective of logistics ideas/concepts and tools progress, as well as cornerstones/fundamentals recently defined in the literature as a scientific and academic discipline. Logistics scientific paradigm is perceived as a set of problems and facts concerning flow orientation and flow system within the world of economic and management issues as the internal elements of logistics area identity.

Artykuł dotyczy identyfikacji tożsamości współczesnej logistyki oraz rozwoju teoretycznych koncepcji logistyki w kierunku dyscypliny naukowej. Dyskusja dotycząca ewolucji logistyki i wyłonienia jej naukowego paradygmatu została zaprezentowana z perspektywy postępu idei/koncepcji i instrumentarium logistyki oraz fundamentów/podstaw niedawno zdefiniowanej w literaturze koncepcji rozumienia logistyki jako naukowej i akademickiej dyscypliny. Paradygmat naukowy logistyki postrzegany jest jako zestaw problemów i faktów dotyczących orientacji przepływowej i systemu przepływu w świecie zjawisk ekonomicznych i zarządczych jako wewnętrzne elementy tożsamości dziedziny logistyki.

The article presents an attempt to the identification of the nature as well as structure and dynamics of logistics performance concept, taking into consideration the contemporary premises of modelling and structurization of performance concept in the managerial context. In particular, a subjects of reaserch is an attempt identification of assumptions and fundamentals of Logistics Performance Management concept, based on the interpretation of the nature and evolution as well as mutual between Performance Measurement and Performance Management concepts, perceived as the concepts of the systemic assessment and strategic formation of performance (optimization of the inputs and their transformation into outputs/outcomes). The structure and dynamic of logistics performance management concept has been presented as interrelations model between managing processes and logistics performance subsystems/komponents.

W artykule podjęta została próba bliższego sprecyzowania istoty oraz struktury i dynamiki koncepcji efektywności logistyki, w kontekście współczesnych przejawów modelowania i strukturyzacji koncepcji efektywności w aspekcie zarządczym. W szczególności, przedmiotem dociekań jest próba sformułowania założeń i podstaw koncepcji zarządzania efektywnością logistyki, w oparciu o interpretację istoty i ewolucji oraz wzajemnych relacji między koncepcjami „performance measurement” i „performance management”, traktowanymi jako koncepcje systemowej oceny oraz strategicznego kształtowania efektywności (optymalizacji nakładów dostosowanych do celów i ich transformacji w oczekiwane efekty). Struktura i dynamika koncepcji zarządzania efektywnością logistyki przedstawiona została w postaci modelu współzależności między procesami zarządzania a podsystemami/komponentami efektywności logistyki.
