Main aim of the article is to discuss and to present the analysis of economic international cooperation led by chosen cities with county rights, within partnerships established with European and non-European local government units. Four cities were analysed: Nowy Sącz, Grudziądz, Siedlce and Jelenia Góra. The article presents some examples of undertaken activities, which aim is to make business connections between companies and to promote city’s investment offer outside Polish borders. Moreover, the effects of those activities were discussed, as well as connection between intensity of economic cooperation and geographical proximity of the twin towns.

Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest omówienie i zaprezentowanie wyników badań nad prowadzoną przez wybrane miasta na prawach powiatu do 100 tys. mieszkańców współpracą zagraniczną, w ramach nawiązanych partnerstw z samorządami państw europejskich i pozaeuropejskich, w ujęciu gospodarczym. Analizie poddano cztery ośrodki miejskie: Nowy Sącz, Grudziądz, Siedlce i Jelenią Górę. Artykuł prezentuje przykłady podejmowanych przez samorządy działań, mających na celu nawiązanie międzynarodowych kontaktów biznesowych między przedsiębiorcami i promowanie oferty inwestycyjnej danego miasta poza granicami Polski. Poruszone zostały też kwestie efektów tych działań, jak również dokonano analizy zależności między intensywnością prowadzonej współpracy gospodarczej a bliskością geograficzną pomiędzy partnerskimi samorządami.

The target of the analysis of this thesis is the social engineering’ techniques and methods used by politicians during the local election campaign in the Malopolska voi-vodeship in 2014. The article includes selected examples of various election activities, which could be observed in different cities throughout the region. The examination of the thesis embodied those practices, the main purpose of which is to gain trust and support from the electorate, as well as those activities which have unethical and unfair character. Moreover, the media’s participation in the campaign and their influence on the electorate has been analyzed. The article includes the answer to the question: what influence had involvement of social engineering techniques during the election campaign on local communities and candidates?
