The aim of the paper is to characterize basic features of the pre-election media discourse in social networks via pragma linguistic ideological bases and orientation on selected language components, means, and methods. Social networks are typically characterized by an environment with a persuasive impact on a recipient. In the research, the author complies with the basis of the discourse analysis and answers questions of the traditional linguistics with respect to the relation of language, its use, and the social world. The issue is analysed and interpreted with focus on a numeral as an independent word class that appears in the specific lingual as well as extra lingual context. The material base needed for scientific intent consists of texts published by individual Slovak political parties on Facebook social network before the Slovak parliamentary elections of 2016.

The aim of the article is to use analytic and interpretative methods to present the pragmatic-communicative potential of the expressive characters of individual language levels as identified in the chosen texts of pre-election media discourse. The introduction section clarifies the definition of the term (media) discourse and in relation to pragmatics implies the inevitability of its understanding in terms of interdisciplinarity. Based on the pre-election texts published on the Facebook site of the chosen political party, we highlight the persuasively-oriented pragmatic-communicative possibilities of some language phenomena. In the mode of pars pro toto, the contribution aims to point out the selected pragmatic-communicative aspects of the language phenomena of the Slovak language appearing in the area of media discourse.

The contribution describes which dictionaries and how they were treated in the Slovenská reč journal throughout its ninety years of existence. The theoretical, methodological and conceptual issues in lexicography that were addressed by the journal in the given time period are also considered. By analysing the papers published in the journal, the contribution aims to present the history and respectable figures of the Slovak dictionary-making. A great deal of attention, however, is given to explanatory and translational dictionaries of the 20th and 21st centuries, which historically evolved in contact with Czech and Russian (Soviet) schools of lexicography. Special dictionaries that cover lexis according to its functional attribute, the individual parameters of words, or developmental and territorial criteria are also in focus. Limited space is dedicated to corpus linguistics which in close collaboration with computational lexicography delivers material resources needed for the lexicographic work.
