The aim of this text is to consider whether the meaning of life and purpose of life is the same. These philosophical investigations assume axiological objectivism, which claims two things: 1) values are a characters or qualities of objects, 2) phrases like ‘X is good’ are sentences in logical sense. As the main methods used in investigations was conceptual and linguistic analysis, which have been used to characterize the notion of ‘life’ and ‘meaning’. This step allowed to precise notion of ‘meaning of life’ and allowed to consider the titled question. Result is negative: meaning of life is based on values, and not on arbitrarily taking purposes. If meaning of life is a some kind of essential good, then purposes cannot make life meaningful, if themselves are not valuable.

In this article I attempt to consider the structure of specific acts of desire, which are defined as ‘longing’. For that purpose, I used descriptive-analytical method of phenomenology to present the most essential aspects of this feeling. Longing, as an emotion, is a kind of insight into the sphere of values, through which the object of longing appears as a kind of good, which nature isn’t described in utilitarian or hedonistic categories. Object of longing seems to be something above those two kinds of values. Much attention was devoted to the issue of constitution of object of longing as something negative, absent for person, who misses someone or something. At the end of the paper, I make some remarks about ‘privacy’ and intimacy of longing and I consider longing as a kind of mood, through which some acts of awareness are becoming possible.

DE

The aim of this text is to justify the thesis about the existence of various conflicts of values, and then to illustrate them by using a typology. The work first considers the general concept of conflict and the phenomenon of conflict as the subject of axiological investigations, and then analyzes ontoaxiological assumptions that aim to reveal the presence and multiplicity of conflicts of values. The typology presented here accepts the degree of transcendence of a conflict of a given type in relation to man as a criterion for conceptual division.
