The role of battle-field chronotop in the structure of the novels Yellow Cross by A. Struh and The Silent Don by M. Sholokhov is examined through poetics in the comparative aspects; specific features of two authors'humanist positions as their contribution to many-voiced "democratic litterature" about the First World War are characterized on the level of intertextual callings.
