The article deals with the problem of family conflict and the possibility of solving it through mediation. The content of it concerns: conflict and its consequences for the family system, causes and types of conflicts, as well as people's reaction to conflict. It presents mediation as a method of amicable settlement of a dispute, as a procedure that allows the conflicting parties to reach an agreement, rebuild or improve relations. Mediation has been presented as a form of intervention in the dispute, creating the possibility of an agreement between the parties without the participation of the court. It was indicated that this is a procedure that directs the parties to the future and allows to satisfy the interests of both parties. The article presents the possibilities and barriers to the application of mediation in family matters.

Współczesne uwarunkowania rozwojowe tworzą potrzebę przewartościowań w wielu sferach funkcjonowania firm, w tym także w obszarze systemów wynagrodzeń. Wyzwaniem, przed którym staje znaczna część organizacji jest wypracowanie w tym obszarze rozwiązań służących realizacji celów strategicznych organizacji, stymulowaniu zachowań pracowników zgodnych z preferencjami firmy, ale również nakierowanych na zaspokojenie zróżnicowanych potrzeb tychże pracowników. Artykuł zawiera prezentację funkcjonujących w literaturze koncepcji kształtowania wynagrodzeń z określeniem ich zalet i ograniczeń. Szczególne miejsce, jako odpowiadającego najpełniej nowym wyzwaniom poświęcono przedstawieniu podejścia hybrydowego. Wychodząc naprzeciw potrzebie włączania wynagrodzeń do spektrum praktyk szczególnie przydatnych w systemach wysoce efektywnej pracy1, w opracowaniu podniesiono potrzebę implementacji koncepcji wynagradzania całkowitego2.

The reform of the health care system in Poland has triggered the need to pay closer attention to labor costs. This has resulted in a process increasing employment flexibility by way of various contractual forms through which medical services are provided by physicians. This article presents the results of a questionnaire survey aimed at identifying types of compensation for physicians as well as the specifics of their determining factors in the case of physicians employed under various kinds of contracts (employment contracts / contract work) in small and medium–sized health care units in the Kuyavian–Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Artykuł porusza problematykę związaną z pracą kobiet w służbach mundurowych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wykonywania przez nie zawodu Funkcjonariusza Służby Więziennej. Zaprezentowane w nim zostały kwestie prawne dotyczące równego traktowania kobiet i mężczyzn w miejscu pracy, formalnych czynników wpływających na ich zatrudnienie, statusu kobiet w więzieniu, a także problemów ich funkcjonowania w roli zawodowej. Artykuł prezentuje także wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w Polsce i na świecie, dotyczące funkcjonowania kobiet w zakładzie karnym i ich relacji z funkcjonariuszami Służby Więziennej, a także osadzonymi.

The article discusses the problems of women who work in the uniformed services with the particular emphasis on the performing of the occupation of the prison service. It presents the legal issues relating to equal treatment of men and women in the workplace, formal factors influencing their employment, the status of women in prison, and the problems of their conducting in the professional role. The article also presents the results of research conducted in Poland and all over the world, on the functioning of women in prison and their relations with officers of the Prison Service, as well as with inmates.

Conflict-related and disputable situations have been present in our lives since ancient times, when people have become aware of the need to protect their rights and interests, sometimes at odds with the aspirations of others. The conflict that emerges between people disturbs their relationships and poses a threat to the proper functioning of people, bringing with them negative emotions. However, it can be an opportunity for development, be treated as a change in interpersonal relationships and can ultimately produce positive effects. Mediation offers a possibility of converting the negative aspects of the conflict into constructive solutions. Being voluntary, confidential, non-formal, out-of-court proceedings, it enables the parties to come to an agreement, offering them the opportunity to actively participate in shaping the legal and social situation and exercising their rights and interests in the spirit of consensus. In the mediation process, the parties use the support of a professional, impartial, neutral mediator. The authors of the article promote the idea of mediation with full conviction that it is a valuable and effective way for conflicted parties and third parties and their relatives to reach a consensus on various issues, including family matters.

The issue of alcohol consumption, addiction to it, and causes and effects of this phenomenon have already been explored many times. The article describes current pedagogical and legal activities taken in Poland towards people addicted to alcohol and related controversy . The authors drew attention to a number of problems concerning with alcohol addiction for an alcohol abuse person and his family. Starting from the current law on upbringing in sobriety and counteracting alcoholism because it takes up issues related to treatment, rehabilitation and social reintegration of people addicted to alcohol. There are institutions established on its basis and take up actions aimed at diagnosing the problem of an individual’s addiction to alcohol, leading to a ruling and requiring the person addicted to alcohol to undergo treatment. In the article the stages of treatment have been described in detail, requriments, important person for example probation officer and possible to receive treatment from non-governmental organizations that help those addicted and thus create an option for those addicted to alcohol to self-organize. The authors emphasized that the process of freeing from alcohol addiction is incredibly difficult and sometimes prolonged. Thus, the compulsory character of rehab treatment sparks a lot of controversy, as it contradicts the right to self-determination, i.e. independent decision of the person addicted to take up the treatment. There is a need to search new solutions in this respect, develop tools that increase the effectiveness of activities taken towards those addicted and exchange experiences on the global scale.
