The aim of the article is to present mechanisms of knowledge diffusion in the region. The authors discuss methods of aquisition of knowledge by agents functioning in the region, and channels of knowledge distribution - private persons' and public channels, institutional channels and channels based on information and communication systems. They show also the role of knowledge diffusion in the process of knowledge management in the region.

Nasilenie kryzysu zatrudnienia młodzieży różnicuje sytuację ludzi młodych na rynku pracy, prowadzi do niewykorzystania kwalifikacji, zdobytych w trakcie kształcenia oraz pogłębia lukę pomiędzy podażą i popytem na kwalifikacje. W artykule przedstawiono tranzycję ludzi młodych na rynek pracy, zagrożenia związane z niedopasowaniem kwalifikacji oraz skutki społeczne kryzysu – wykształcenie się pokolenia NEET, osób nie pracujących, nie uczących się i nie uczestniczących w kursach dokształcających.

The deepening of the youth employment crisis differentiates the situation of young people on the labor market, leads to underutillisation of skills and widens the gap between skills supply and demand. This article discusses a transition of the youth onto the labour market, the risks associated with skills mismatches and social costs of the crisis – the rise of NEET generation, people who are neither working, nor studying nor participating in training courses.

The purpose of the article is to present the effects of the 2008–2009 fi nancial crisis for the European economy. The author discusses the main causes of the crisis, its impact on the financial sector and the real economy. Analysis of the basic macroeconomic indicators leads to a conclusion that despite fi rm actions taken by individual countries, until now it has not been possible to restore the dynamic of the economies from before 2008.
