In search of new destinations and experiences, tourists are now visiting places that are monuments of tragedy, suffering, death and destruction. These places are often connected to mass murders or catastrophes. Such locations have always attracted interest, fascination and evoked dread. This phenomenon has been described as “dark tourism” or thanatourism. The aim of the article is to discuss the subject of thanatourism in the urban space of Berlin, which is becoming an increasingly popular branch of cultural tourism in Germany and other countries. The article consists of three main parts: a theoretical introduction, a description of thanatourism resources in Berlin and the analysis of the phenomenon in reference to selected aspects.

Because of the multifunctional character of cities and a large variety of resources and forms of tourist activity available in metropolitan areas, they are important tourist destinations. Depending on the scope of analysis, tourist traffic can be studied in the context of a city, municipality or region. The aim of the article is to present the possibilities of cycling and cultural tourism in the metropolitan area of Szczecin. This article provides information on tourism assets and initiatives that foster the development of cycling tourism.

Wielofunkcyjność miast oraz duża różnorodność zasobów i form aktywności turystycznej dostępnych w metropoliach powoduje, że stają się one ważnymi celami recepcji turystycznej, rozumianymi jako miejsca, do których kieruje się ruch turystyczny. Zależnie od przedmiotu analiz w konkretnej sytuacji może on oznaczać miejscowość, gminę lub region. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie możliwości uprawiania turystyki rowerowej, a także turystyki kulturowej w szczecińskim obszarze metropolitarnym. W artykule przedstawione zostały informacje na temat walorów turystycznych oraz inicjatyw wpływających na rozwój turystyki rowerowej.
