This article presents the results of qualitative research of texts including medical advice printed in women's magazines, which have been published for the last few years. The analysis of the collected material allowed the author to describe a genre's model, sender-receiver model and its stylistic register using a qualitative method. Advice in women's magazine use texts and they are interesting examples of advice's discourse. Because they are available for everyone, I believe my choice of material was definitely correct. If they were treated as merchandise, the price, the mode and the mass production, which decide about their popularity and brand on the Polish publishing market, would be important.

W artykule omówiono profilowanie pojęcia prawo w języku polskim i angielskim.

The article discusses the concept of law as it is profiled in the Polish and English languages. In the research, the methodology and definition of concept profiling have been used as proposed by Jerzy Bartmiński and Stanisława Niebrzegowska-Bartmińska, together with the methodology of comparative research. The analysis allowed to determine the ways “law” is conceptualized in both languages and to indicate some characteristics of the term in Polish and English ‘law’ at the lexicographical, semantic and text levels. Textual data indicate the most important profiles of the term law as a set of norms of procedures, a category of duty, and as a sphere of rights in English.
