Taking 167 kindergarteners just one year before elementary school from 7 different kindergartens in county as an example, this research examined kindergarteners’ math development for school readiness in a rural area of western China. From the research carried out, it was concluded that development in different math abilities are not coordinated, that the children’s performance in number and volume are much better than in geometry and relationship, and that there are significant differences between different kindergartens regarding location and funding – children from independent public kindergartens and private kindergartens, charging expensive tuition fees and located in county towns, are much better than others. Therefore, it is reasonable to assert that math education in rural kindergartens is in urgent need of improvement, with teachers needing to update their ideas and techniques in math education so as to enhance support and guidance in the areas   of geometry and relationship. Also, government must make further effort to improve the condition of educational equity within country areas, which, at this stage, means reinforcing high quality resources such as good teachers in countryside kindergartens.

The multicultural curriculum is an important part of multicultural education and inevitably a choice for preschool education in the minority areas of China. Focusing on the development of multicultural curriculum resources in the minority areas, this study focuses on a kindergarten in Tujia to investigate and analyze multicultural curriculum resources development by using multiple methods: documentation analysis, interview, observation and so on. Generally, the research found that the orientation of the curriculum exploration goals is undefined, while the selection of curriculum development content and approaches to curriculum exploration are unitary. Meanwhile, based on interpretative understandings in case study and relevant theory, this article reflects the condition of the kindergarten multicultural curriculum in our minority areas concerning content selection and approaches to curriculum development, and proposes some ideas for setting up a multicultural project. Clarifying goals setting, enriching curriculum exploration of content, as well as expanding approaches to curriculum exploration, are also proposed in this thesis.

It is a common phenomenon in China that 9-12 year old children spend a lot of time on the internet. From this study, it can be concluded that the time children spend online is different between boys and girls, and that boys tend to stay online much longer. In addition to this, the sites where children access the internet are not fixed, while children believe that the internet is safe and has brought them benefits. At the same time, some children showed their dependence on the internet. The top three behaviors of children’s online life are information searching, chatting and making friends, and playing games. The internet is not only a pleasurable experience for children but also troublesome. Most  of the children’s online life is under adult supervision. Based on these results, it is believed that online life has brought convenience and developmental opportunities to young Chinese children, facilitating their learning and relaxation, but at the same time bringing them risks and crisis, especially the pain resulting from unsuitable content, exposure of privacy and internet addiction.
