This paper analyzes the Saint Augustine ethic of the relations between people. After a brief reconstruction of his philosophical “system”, the paper analyzes the distinction taken from the text: On Christian Doctrine between two kind of relations: uti and frui. Finally the Author compares St. Augustine’s philosophy with the philosophy of Martin Buber. The author claims that it is impossible to create any real ethic when one thinks that the other man is only means not the end.
