The Islamic State was established as a result of many political, social and economic factors. It is currently the strongest terrorist structure in the world, which has support among the Islamic community across the globe. IS is a creation, which destabilizes the situation in the Middle East and threatens international security. Only the creation of a single international coalition sharing a common military and political policy against the IS can lead to the neutralization of this threat.

Mission “Resolute Support” began on 1 January 2015 after the 13 years of the ISAF operation. Resolute Support is intended to support the Afghan army and the preparation of the local headquarters of the security forces and institutions subordinate to the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of the Interior for independent action. It is now probably the last stage of preparing Afghanistan for autonomous action. International consultants play a key role on achieving the mission. Resolute Support is for Afghanistan forces responsible for efforts to launch independent efforts and the fight against the Taliban. Support for the Afghan security forces must be carried out with the help of the international coalition.

The article describes a phenomenon of offset in a general outline. Offset is a new concept in the Polish arms industry. This phenomenon has many supporters and critics, as well as being a tool in the hands if lobbyists. It is also assessed through the prism of political events. It has played an important role in the Polish defense industry in recent years. As a result, the access to new technologies and markets has been greater. Offset has a significant importance on the macroeconomic view but it is not the only way of developing the Polish defense industry.

The terrorist attacks in New York on 11th September 2001 resulted in a new method of armed conflict which was asymmetric in character, on this occasion in Afghanistan. The ISAF faced the Taliban – a rival who had an advantage because of local knowledge and help from some of the neighbouring countries, such as Pakistan, and international terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda. The Taliban maintained surveillance on the ANSF which supported ISAF. As a result, attacks described as green on blue happened which were caused also by a conflict of a cultural and religious basis between Afghan soldiers and ISAF soldiers. Due to its unpre-dictability and the impossibility of stating its area and time, they became one of the biggest dangers for ISAF soldiers during that difficult mission.
