The article presents the evolution of the Soviet operational warfare since its ini­tial phase in the 1920s, followed by a characterisation of the impact of the Great Purge on the evolution of the Soviet military doctrine and the Red Army itself. Finally, Soviet strategic plan­ning is analysed in the context of the offensive war with the Third Reich from the point of view of operational art and its translation into strategy.

Artykuł prezentuje rozwój sowieckiej myśli operacyjnej, poczynając od pierwszego etapu jej kreowania w latach dwudziestych XX wieku. Następnie opisuje skutki Wielkiej Czystki dla ewolucji sowieckiej myśli wojskowej i samej Armii Czerwonej. Ostatnią rzeczą jest analiza sowieckiego planowania strategicznego w kontekście wojny ofensywnej przeciw III Rzeszy z punktu widzenia sztuki operacyjnej jej przełożenia na strategię.

The article is an attempt to respond to the crisis of linear order that appeared at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The narrative begins with the views of one of the most important military thinkers, Carl von Clausewitz. Then, his views are described through the prism of understanding and interpretation at the end of the 19th century by theorists such as Jean Colin and Friedrich von Bernhardi. In the final part, I describe how theory met practice using the example of Alfred von Schlieffen.

Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na kryzys szyku linearnego, który pojawił się na przełomie XIX i XX wieku. Narracja rozpoczyna się od poglądów jednego z najważniejszych myślicieli wojskowych Carla von Clausewitza. Następnie opisane są jego poglądy przez pryzmat ich zrozumienia i interpretacji pod koniec XIX wieku przez takich teoretyków jak Jean Colin czy Friedrich von Bernhardi. W części końcowej opisuję jak teoria spotkała się z praktyką na przykładzie Alfreda von Schlieffena.
