Wstęp. Celem pracy jest porównanie parametrów opisują- cych postawę ciała dzieci mieszkających na Podkarpaciu i na Śląsku. Materiał i metoda. Badania przeprowadzono w wybranych szkołach podstawowych regionu podkarpackiego i śląskiego. Wyniki. Z 25 badanych parametrów różnice istotne statystycznie wykazywały głównie parametry DCK, DKP, RKP, DLL, RLL oraz DELTA i KLL. Wnioski. 1. Parametry opisujące postawę ciała różnią sie istotnie w badanych grupach. 2. Dzieci z badanych grup różnią się istotnie statystycznie masą i wysokością ciała.

introduction. The aim of the study is to compare parameters describing the body posture in children living in Podkarpacie and Śląsk. Material and methods. The study has been done in particular primary schools of Sub-Carphatian and Silesia regions. The 563 pupils of the three fist school years have been examined, randomly chosen, whose parents gave a written agreement on that, including 278 boys (49,38%) and 285 girls (50,62%). Each examined pupil was set in 25 parameters describing the body posture using the photogrammetric method based on mora phenomenon. results. Among 25 parameters, describing body posture, there are statistically signifiant diffrences, mainly in case of DCK, DKP, RKP, DLL, RLL, DELTA and KLL. conclusions. 1. Parameters describing the posture are signifiantly diffrent among examined groups. 2. Children from examined groups present statistical diffrences in a mass and the height of the body.

Introduction. Menopause is the time when the female body goes through substantial endocrine changes resultant from the gradual phasing out of the reproductive activity of the ovaries. Consequently, post-menopausal women face some perimenopausal symptoms. These symptoms affect everyday physical and psychological functioning to various extent, and result in certain limitations. Aim. The aim of this paper was to study which limitations are most difficult for postmenopausal women, and how menopause symptoms affect women’s physical activity and satisfaction with life, as these are important components of quality of life. Materials and methods. The study involved 60 postmenopausal women. We used our own questionnaire. Results. We did not find the remaining relationships enumerated in research questions: the impact of menopausal syndromes on the frequency of physical activity, on its intensity, and on satisfaction with life, nor with the impact of subjective health on intensity of physical effort. Conclusions. We confirmed the relationship between intensity of physical effort and satisfaction with life and the relationship between subjective assessment of one’s health and the frequency of physical activity.

Introduction. In effect of the ageing process, there are involutional changes in older adults both in the mental and in the physical spheres. Some factors may slow down the ageing process. Physical activity is one of these factors. Physical ability is one of the most important indicators of quality of life of older adults, and it can be shaped by physical activity. Aim. The aim of the study was to assess chosen factors that influence physical ability of adults older than 65 years. Material and methods. The study involved 63 older adults. The criterion for inclusion in the study was the age - older than 65 years. There were 37 women and 26 men in the study population. All the subjects were able to walk without assistance, and they had no contraindications to do functional tests. We used a questionnaire of our own design, three SPPB trials, Up&Go test; we calculated the BMI indices and assessed depression scale. Results. We found that older adults rarely engage in physical activity. The low level of physical activity of the older adults was reflected in equally low physical ability level, as assessed by functional tests. We found a directly proportional dependence between body mass and the level of functional limitations and risk of falls. Conclusion. In our functional tests, we found a statistically significant correlation with regard to age and BMI index.

Introduction. The threshold of compulsory schooling for prematurely born children is of particular importance. It’s a period of intense physical development which may increase the risk of scoliosis. Aim. The aim of this research is to determine whether age, gender, BMI value and selected elements of perinatal interview discriminate the results of screening test aimed at detection of scoliosis and flexibility disorders in group of preterm children at the beginning of school age. Material and methods. The study population consisted of 61 preterm children aged 5-8 years. The study included perinatal interview, BMI assessment, screening tests to detect scoliosis and flexibility. Results. Statistically significant dependence was obtained between age and normal and abnormal results of the screening test aimed at detection of scoliosis and between the result of the screening test for detecting flexibility disorders and: age, number of foetuses, assessment on the Apgar scale. Conclusion. The results of screening test aimed at occurrence of scoliosis in group of preterm children are significantly correlated with the age and screening test aimed at occurrence of the flexibility disorders are discriminated by age, origin from monoor multi-foetus pregnancy and assessment on the Apgar scale
