This article aims at examining the issue of free time spent by participants of activitiesconducted at the University of the Third Age in Cieszyn. In the theoretical part, we present definitions, functions and forms of spending free time and we describe the University of the Third Age in Cieszyn. In the practical part, we present the results of a survey based on a questionnaire carried out in 2018.

Theoretical part presents the activities of the District Labor Office in Rybnik and discusses the specifics of the work of the vocational counselors. This article attempts to verify whether computer classes attended by the students o the University of the Third Age in Rybnik may counteract digital exclusion among seniors. The theoretical part gives a closer look at the issues related to the digital exclusion of the elderly and describes the activities carried out by the University of the Third Age in Rybnik. The practical part contains the results of the survey based on a questionnaire technique conducted among UTW students in Rybnik 2019.

W części teoretycznej przybliżono zagadnienie dotyczące edukacji w czasie COVID-19 oraz scharakteryzowano UTW w Katowicach. Celem artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie: jakie miejsce w życiu uczniów klas I–III szkoły podstawowej zajmuje książka? Część teoretyczna zawiera ogólne uwagi dotyczące etapów edukacji czytelniczej dzieci. W części praktycznej zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, opartą na technice ankiety, i kwestionariusz ankiety jako narzędzie badawcze. Metoda ta pozwoliła na uzyskanie informacji na temat stosunku młodych respondentów do książ- ki. Badania przeprowadzono wśród uczniów szkół podstawowych, usytuowanych na terenie miasta i gminy Czerwionka-Leszczyny. Uzyskane wyniki, które zaprezentowano w postaci tabel i opatrzono komentarzem słownym, przekonują, że wbrew powszechnej opinii dzieci lubią czytać, sięgając po książkę nie tylko z motywów instrumentalnych, ale przede wszystkim autotelicznych. Artykuł może okazać się przydatny dla nauczycieli edukacji wczesnoszkolnej, bibliotekarzy pracujących w szkole, aby wiedzieli, jakie książki znajdują się w centrum zainteresowania młodych czytelników, a także wszystkich osób interesujących się zagadnieniem czytelnictwa.

The aim of this article is to demonstrate how class I to III students see older people. To answer this question, a survey was conducted using the questionnaire survey as a research tool. The study was conducted in Czerwionka-Leszczyny and Książenice, towns located in the town and commune of Czerwionka-Leszczyny, in Rybnik district of Silesian Voivodship. The main criteria for the division of the research group were the gender and place of residence of young respondents. The chosen period of human development is not accidental, as it is at that time that the transition from superficiality to operational thinking takes place, which contributes to the deeper and more objective description of other people by children. As the research has proved, these descriptions are far from stereotyping.

Celem artykułu jest próba ukazania, w jaki sposób uczniowie klas I–III postrzegają ludzi starszych. W celu odpowiedzi na to pytanie przeprowadzono badanie sondażowe z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza ankiety jako narzędzia badawczego. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone w Czerwionce-Leszczynach i Książenicach, miejscowościach usytuowanych na terenie miasta i gminy Czerwionka-Leszczyny, w powiecie rybnickim, w województwie śląskim. Głównymi kryteriami podziału grupy badawczej stały się płeć i miejsce zamieszkania młodych respondentów. Wybrany okres rozwoju człowieka nie był przypadkowy, bowiem właśnie w tym czasie następuje przejście od powierzchowności odbioru do myślenia operacyjnego, co przyczynia się do pogłębienia i obiektywizacji opisu innych ludzi przez dzieci.
