Рассматривается религиозная самоидентификация личности в белорусской и польской прозе малых жанров на рубеже XIX–XX ст. Выделяются общие, созвучные времени интерпретации, а также специфичные для каждой из литератур. Показывается, как выявленные отличия связаны с конфессиональной историей народов, в частности с доминантным вероисповеданием, и их влияние на культуру.

The paper is devoted to religious self-identification in Belarusian and Polish prose of small genres at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. The overlap and differences in interpretation are distinguished. It is shown how the identified differences are related to the confessional history of peoples, in particular, to the dominant confession, and its impact on the culture.

Многоязычная литература Беларуси XIX ст. исследуются в имагологическом аспекте: анализируются представленные в ней автообраз – самопрезентация белорусов-ливтинов, и гетерообраз – воссоздание ближаших географических соседей – поляков. Внимание акцентируется на распространенных в искусстве слова мотивах и стереотипах о Другом, специфика которых связана с общим историческим прошлым белорусского и польского этносов и задачами, стоящими перед нашими предками в рассматриваемый период.

In this paper the imagological aspect of the 19th century multilingual literature of Belarus is investigated. The author analyzes the auto-image (the self-presentation of Belarusian-Lithuanians) as well as the hetero-image (the re-creation of the nearest geographical neighbors – the Poles). Attention is focused on the motifs and stereotypes about the Other, related to the common historical past of the Belarusian and Polish ethnic groups and the tasks facing their ancestors in the period under review.
