IMAGOLOGIA A PRZEKŁAD – NA PRZYKŁADZIE POLSKICH PRZEKŁADÓW LITERATURY CZESKIEJ

The author, asking about relations between imagology and translation, is looking for an answer on the example of Polish translations of Czech literature (Hašek, Hrabal, Havel). These relations should be found in the process of translation (selection of a specific work and translator, publication and promotion, other conditioning factors, etc.), as well as in the translated text (its textual, editorial and iconographic aspects), and also in the reception process of the translated text (reviews and studies, adaptations, „canonization” and its role in the educational process, etc.). Close relation between translation and imagology, resulting largely from the „invisibility of the translator” adopted in our cultures (Venuti 1995), should therefore be one of the areas of posthuman research.

Autorka, stawiajac pytanie o związki, jakie zachodzą pomiędzy imagologią a przekładem, poszukuje odpowiedzi na przykładzie polskich przekładów dzieł literatury czeskiej (Hašek, Hrabal, Havel). Związki te widzieć należy tak w procesie przekładu (wybór konkretnego dzieła i tłumacza, działania wydawnictwa i promocja, inne czynniki warunkujące itd.), jak i w dziele przetłumaczonym (aspekty tekstowe, edytorskie i ikonograficzne), a również w procesie odbioru i recepcji tłumaczenia (recenzje i opracowania, adaptacje, „kanonizowanie się” i związana z tym rola w procesie edukacyjnym itp.). Bliskie związki przekładu i imagologii, wynikające w znacznym stopniu z przyjętej w naszych kulturach „niewidzialności tłumacza” (Venuti 1995), powinny więc stanowić jeden z obszarów badań posthumanistyki.

Martin C. Putna in 2018 published Obrazy z kulturních dějin Střední Evropy [Images from the Cultural History of Central Europe], in which he presents a spectacular panorama of the multiculturalism, multilingualism, and multiconfessionalism of the individual regions of Central Europe (which he understands as the cultural legacy of Austria-Hungary) in order to sketch their "histories of ideas" that allow for a fuller reflection on the past and thus for building a future based on these (forgotten or sometimes suppressed) experiences.  By proposing a territorial history of literature, the author gives a new direction to the closed-circle discussion of the construct of Central Europe: the essayistic images - despite their fragmentary and subjective readings - are clearly a step towards treating literature and culture as a medium of memory, counting on the causal effect of the memory they retain (after Astrid Erll genitivus objectivus).

Putna w 2018 roku wydał Obrazy z kulturních dějin Střední Evropy [Obrazy z dziejów kulturowych Europy Środkowej], w których przedstawia spektakularną panoramę wielokulturowości, wielojęzyczności i wielokonfesyjności poszczególnych regionów Europy Środkowej (rozumianej przez niego jako spuścizna kulturowa Austro-Węgier), by naszkicować ich „historie idei” pozwalające na pełniejszą refleksję przeszłości, a tym samym budowanie przyszłości w oparciu o te  (zapomniane lub niekiedy wyparte) doświadczenia.  Autor poprzez propozycję terytorialnej historii literatury nadaje nowy kierunek obracającej się w zamkniętym kole dyskusji o konstrukcie Europie Środkowej: eseistyczne obrazy – pomimo fragmentaryczności i subiektywności odczytania – są ewidentnie krokiem w stronę traktowania literatury i kultury jako medium pamięci, liczącym na sprawcze oddziaływanie zatrzymanej w nich pamięci (za Astrid Erll genitivus objectivus).
