Dwa z państw BRIC – Chiny i Indie – w nadchodzących latach zwiększą w bezprecedensowym stopniu swoje zapotrzebowanie na energię. Wraz z odkryciem w tych krajach złóż gazu łupkowego, pojawiła się dla nich szansa na wykorzystanie niekonwencjonalnych zasobów dla zaspokojenie krajowego popytu. Jednak jego wydobycie będzie kosztowne i napotka szereg przeszkód, a amerykański sukces produkcji gazu łupkowego wydaje się w tym przypadku niemożliwy do powtórzenia.

For two of BRIC countries – China and India – the need for energy is going to increase in the coming years to an unprecedented degree. With the discovery in these countries the fields of shale gas, there has appeared hope for meeting the national demand with the use of the unconventional resources. However, the mining will be costly and it will meet a number of obstacles, and the American success in the shale gas production seems in these instances impossible to repeat.

Amerykańska „rewolucja łupkowa” pozwoliła zaspokoić dużą część krajowego zapotrzebowania na gaz ziemny. Wydobycie surowca na wielką skalę stworzyło również szansę na jego eksport na rynki zagraniczne. Wiele państw wiąże z dostawami taniego gazu skroplonego (LNG) spore nadzieje, a w samych Stanach Zjednoczonych perspektywa ta wywołuje ożywioną debatę. W poniższej analizie autor przedstawia uwarunkowania infrastrukturalne związane z eksportem, jego wpływ na amerykańską gospodarkę oraz rynki zagraniczne. Analiza uwzględnia również potencjalnych konkurentów, z których na najpoważniejszego wyrasta Australia.

American shale gas revolution determined the US gas demand and consumption. The vast commercial gas production could strengthen the US export and influence the gas prices in the international markets. Some significant developments are expected in 2015-2018 and are connected with e.g. launching 9 export LNG terminals in US, increase of gas export capacity up to 89 billion m3 in Australia, or launching gas terminal in the Yamal Peninsula.
