In the first part of the article the history of the influx of immigrants to France in the 19th and 20th century was described, as well as the characteristics of the number of refugees in the years 1991-2015. The next section examines the asylum procedure and refugee problems related to housing. The situation of unaccompanied minors was also discussed, as well as the integration process, which consists of six elements: professional integration, housing, access to civil rights, healthcare, social assistance and family reunification. The last part of the article describes organizations helping refugees, including France Terre d'asile, Forum Réfugiés-Cosi, La Cimade, L'Association nationale d'assistance aux frontières pour les étrangers (ANAFE), and Groupe accueil et solidarité (GAS).

The text concerns the situation of culturally different children in the environment of Polish schools. The first part presents selected regulations of international and domestic law referring to the education of foreign children. The second and third parts present the challenges of a multicultural Polish school; the cited statistical data illustrate the insignificant presence of foreign children in Polish schools. The text is based on the analysis of academic literature, reports from non-governmental organizations and various legal regulations referring to the functioning of migrant children in Poland. It also draws on fragments of the Author’s research conducted within the project ‘A culturally different child in Poland. A pedagogical study of “rooting”’, realised in the years 2011–2014 in the Mazovian voivodeship and the capital city of Warsaw.

W artykule charakteryzuję historię napływu uchodźców i imigrantów do Danii na przestrzeni wieków. Mimo, iż Dania nie jest uważana za główny kraj imigracji w Europie, a jej obywatele to raczej homogeniczna populacja, to na przestrzeni wieków przybywali do Danii imigranci z różnych stron świata, co m.in. było uwarunkowane historycznie, politycznie i ekonomicznie. Podaję także przyczyny ich napływu oraz charakteryzuję liczbę uchodźców i imigrantów w poszczególnych wiekach i latach. W dalszej części artykułu opisuję działania gmin i społeczności lokalnych na rzecz cudzoziemców i ich integracji społecznej oraz przedstawiam niektóre inicjatywy i programy na rzecz akulturacji osób odmiennych kulturowo.

The paper characterizes the history of the influx of refugees and immigrants in Denmark over the centuries. Although Denmark is not considered to be the main country of immigration in Europe and its citizens is rather homogeneous population, that over the centuries came to Denmark immigrants from different parts of the world, which was determined historically, politically and economically. In the article I give the reasons for their inflows and characterize the number of refugees and immigrants in different ages and years. In the second part of the article I describe actions by municipalities and local communities for foreigners and their social integration. I also present some of the initiatives and programs for better acculturation process of immigrants.

Wszystkie artykuły z kwartalnika (264) podzieliłam na sześć części i w tym artykule przeanalizowałam cztery z nich: zdrowie psychiczne i fizyczne uchodźców i imigrantów; problemy adaptacyjne młodych imigrantów i uchodźców w domu i w szkole w kraju przyjmującym; obraz imigrantów w mediach; imigranci w krajach Trzeciego Świata. Mam nadzieję, że poruszane w artykule zagadnienia będą pomocne w zrozumieniu problemów, z jakimi borykają się imigranci i uchodźcy w kraju przyjmującym i w nowych warunkach kulturowych.

The paper describes the issues connected with migration, immigrants and refugees discussed in the pages of Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies in the years 2002–2013. I divided all the articles from the journal (264) into six parts and in this paper, I analyzed four of them: refugees’ and immigrants’ mental and physical health; adaptation problems among adolescent immigrants and refugees at home and at school in the host country; immigrants in the media and immigrants in Third World countries. I hope that the issues raised in the article will be helpful in understanding the problems immigrants and refugees face in the host country and in new cultural conditions.

This article raises the issue of immigration to Canada of Poles who came to that country in years 1945–1989. The text consists of three parts. The first relates to the theoretical concept of “trajectory” and “biographical learning”, which approximates the various positions and approaches to the concept of learning from its own experience. In the second part I focus on the beginnings of Polish immigration to Canada, the present wave of Polish migration and I briefly characterize the situation of Polish pioneers and veterans of World War II in the province of Manitoba. The third section attempts to describe the difficulties and (self-) reflection in the narrative on own experiences and biographical learning in the context of own biography subjects.

W artykule poruszone zostały kwestie związane z imigracją Polaków do Kanady, w latach 1945–1989. Tekst składa się z trzech części. Pierwsza z nich dotyczy podstaw teoretycznych – koncepcji „trajektorii” i „biograficznego uczenia się”, w której przybliżam różne stanowiska i podejścia do koncepcji uczenia się z własnych doświadczeń i przeżyć. W drugiej części koncentruję się na przybliżeniu Czytelnikowi początków imigracji Polaków do Kanady, przedstawiam fale polskiej emigracji oraz pokrótce charakteryzuję sytuację polskich pionierów oraz weteranów II wojny światowej w prowincji Manitoba. W trzeciej części podejmuję próbę opisu trudności i (samo)refleksji w narracji dotyczącej własnych przeżyć i doświadczeń biograficznych w kontekście uczenia się z własnej biografii osób badanych.

Praca opisuje problematykę migracji, imigrantów oraz uchodźców przedstawioną w kwartalniku Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies w latach 2002–2013.Wszystkie artykuły opublikowane w czasopiśmie (264) zostały podzielone na sześć części (tematów): ramy migracji, proces integracji (akulturacji), zdrowie psychiczne i fizyczne uchodźców oraz imigrantów, problemy adaptacyjne wśród nastoletnich imigrantów oraz uchodźców w domu i w szkole, imigranci w mediach oraz imigranci w krajach rozwijających się. Mam nadzieję, że ten przegląd da czytelnikom uporządkowane i dobrze skonstruowane spojrzenie na problematykę uchodźców oraz imigrantów w różnych krajach na świecie.

Celem artykułu jest poznanie indywidualnego sposobu postrzegania świata poprzez twórczość plastyczną małych Syryjczyków mieszkających z rodzinami w Libanie. Badania wśród uchodźców zostały przeprowadzone w mieście Zahle w 2017 roku. W pierwszej części artykułu została przedstawiona metoda projekcyjna oraz badania nad rysunkiem dziecięcym. W drugiej części artykułu została scharakteryzowana metodologia badań własnych w środowisku Syryjczyków w obozach dla uchodźców. W trzeciej części dokonana została analiza rysunków dotyczących życia w Libanie dzieci i młodzieży. Ostatnia część to podsumowanie badań własnych.

It is the objective of this article to present the case study of a non-governmental organisation conducting supportive activities for the benefit of children with the experience of immigration in Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany. In this article, the theoretical context depicting the policy of the intercultural opening of services and institutions to immigrants and refugees, and also the conception of ’interinclusion’ in the policy of intercultural opening, is presented. In the further part of this article, the analysis of the practical activities of the non-profit organisations as exemplified by Stadtpiraten Freiburg e.V. in the context of the presumptions behind the policy of the intercultural opening of services and institutions is presented in more of a detail.
