Przedmiotem artykułu jest starzenie się, starość i człowiek stary w ujęciu zarówno psychoanalizy, jak i analizy transakcyjnej, wraz z nową propozycją rozszerzenia strukturalnego diagramu osobowości Erica Berne’a o jeszcze jeden ważny element, jakim jest Senior (S), który zwieńczy triadę: Rodzic‒Dorosły‒Dziecko (RDDz). Artykuł zmyka następująca, ważna konkluzja: psychonaliza ukazała człowiekowi starzejącemu się i/lub staremu nieznane strony i mechanizmy jego osobowości, wskazując nade wszystko ‒ jak mierzyć się z procesem starzenia się i własnym losem.

The article discusses ageing, old age and an old man from the perspective of psychoanalysis and transactional analysis as well as one more important element, Senior (S) or Elder (E), who will complement the Parent–Adult–Child trio (PAC), a newly proposed extension of Eric Berne’s structural diagram of personality. The paper ends with a significant conclusion that psychoanalysis has shown to an elderly man unknown dimensions and mechanisms of his personality. It indicates how to confront the ageing process and own fate.
