The aim of the article is to show the socio-cultural value of applications of games and plays for the benefit of innovation in education, intergenerational and intercultural integration. The use of E. Bojanowski’s concept based on a critical edition of his notes in relation to the interdisciplinary achievements of social sciences and humanities serves to develop the theoretical basis for methodical solutions. On this basis, games and plays are presented as an element of both old and modern culture. The article also highlights their importance for the integral development and education of a person and the socio-cultural value of their application in intergenerational and intercultural integration. The socio-cultural value, need, principles and ways of using the heritage of the past and its applications in contemporary educational and cultural practice are shown and justified.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie społeczno-kulturowego waloru aplikacji gier i zabaw na rzecz innowacji w edukacji, integracji międzypokoleniowej i międzykulturowej. Wykorzystanie koncepcji E. Bojanowskiego oparte na krytycznej edycji jego notatek w odniesieniu do interdyscyplinarnego dorobku nauk społecznych i humanistycznych posłużyło opracowaniu teoretycznych podstaw rozwiązań metodycznych. Na tej podstawie przedstawiono gry i zabawy jako element kultury dawnej i współczesnej, ich znaczenie dla integralnego rozwoju i edukacji osoby oraz społeczno-kulturowy walor ich aplikacji w integracji międzypokoleniowej i międzykulturowej. Ukazano i uzasadniono społeczno-kulturową wartość, potrzebę, zasady korzystania z dorobku przeszłości i jego aplikacji we współczesnej praktyce edukacyjnej i kulturalnej.

We learn the pedagogical thought of Edmund Bojanowski from his rich heritage, which are his writings and the resulting work, and its development - from the analysis of its implementation in practice by the Little Servant Sisters. Its rich resource and character makes that it demands that his pedagogical theory and practice should be read again, to respond to contemporary challenges in the field of education. Knowing how Bojanowski understands this activity, allows to reflect on how it can be realized today using the achievements of pedagogical sciences and educational practice. On this basis are constructed: indications and programs of pre-school education, care and educational work in various institutions operating in the system of education and social assistance.

Myśl pedagogiczną Edmunda Bojanowskiego poznajemy z jego bogatej spuścizny, jaką stanowią jego pisma i powstałe dzieło, a jej rozwój – z analizy realizacji jej w praktyce przez Siostry Służebniczki. Jej bogaty zasób i charakter sprawia, że domaga się ona, by jego teorię i praktykę pedagogiczną odczytywać na nowo, by odpowiadać na współczesne wyzwania w dziedzinie edukacji. Poznanie jak rozumiał tę działalność E. Bojanowski pozwala odnosić jego zamysł do tego, jak można realizować go dzisiaj korzystając z osiągnięć nauk pedagogicznych i praktyki wychowawczej. Na tej podstawie konstruowane są wskazania i programy wychowania przedszkolnego, pracy opiekuńczo-wychowawczej w różnego rodzaju placówkach działających w systemie oświaty i pomocy społecznej.

The pedagogical thought and concept of the system of protection by Edmund Bojanowski’s upbringing, even though it was born 170 years ago, appears today to be innovative and exceptionally up-to-date. Applied in contemporary pre-school education and child care, it is a continuation of the concept of upbringing and its practical implementation by establishing on May 3, 1850 the nursery and Congregation of the Servant Sisters. The theoretical and practical application of this concept and new research and scientific studies on the essence of early education realized in Catholic pedagogical thought in the context of contemporary civilization challenges is still expected from various circles in Poland and worldwide.
