The issue of solidarity as a social behaviour is often discussed in the teachings of St. John Paul II. In the article the author points to selected papal teachings contained in three encyclical letters: Redemptor hominis, Dives in misericordia and Sollicitudo rei socialis, and reads them in relation to selected phenomena characterising the current social world, in order to fi nally fi nd out whether the papal teaching on solidarity has lost its relevance, or is it still worth considering?

Zagadnienie solidarności jako postawy społecznej to temat często poruszany w nauczaniu św. Jana Pawła II. W artykule autor wskazuje na wybrane myśli papieskie zawarte w trzech encyklikach: Redemptor hominis, Dives in misericordia oraz Sollicitudo rei socialis, oraz odczytuje je w odniesieniu do wybranych zjawisk charakteryzujących obecny świat społeczny, aby ostatecznie przekonać się, czy nauczanie papieskie dotyczące solidarności straciło na aktualności, czy też ciągle warto się nad nim pochylać.
