The author describes the international art market, highlighting phenomena that are likely to undermine its credibility. These include certain forms of crime, such as forgery, theft, destruction and smuggling of works of art. Above all, however, the article focuses on newly defined forms of cri­minal activity. Among them are “white collar” crimes, illegal transfers in connection with art bank-ing and money laundering. The author focuses on the latter. His analysis of the problem can also be seen in a historic dimension as underlined in the study. The article ends with some significant (in terms of crime prevention) findings and observations. They relate to the fight against money laun­dering involving works of art, the fight seen from the perspective of the international cooperation of law enforcement agencies.

Ecocriminology is one of the youngest research interests in the penal sciences. It is lectured in many renowned universities around the world, and since 2019, also in the Police Academy in Szczytno. The author presents the achievements in this fi eld, indicating its practical usefulness for law enforcement agencies, in particular in identifying organised forms of economic crime. These forms include smuggling and illegal trade in protected species of fl ora and fauna (so-called CITES crimes), smuggling and illegal trade in wastes, seizure of properties of particular value to the world’s natural heritage, land, water and air pollution, corruption, etc. The study has been enriched with a research part, in which the author presents the opinions of students-police offi cers of the Police Academy-on the educational activities in ecocriminology.

Ekokryminologia należy do najmłodszych kierunków zainteresowań badawczych w obrębie nauk penalnych. Wykładana jest w wielu renomowanych uczelniach na całym świecie, od 2019 r. także w Wyższej Szkole Policji w Szczytnie. Autor prezentuje dotychczasowy dorobek wspomnianego kierunku, wskazując na jego praktyczną przydatność dla organów ścigania, w szczególności w zakresie identyfikowania zorganizowanych form przestępczości gospodarczej. Do tych form należy zaliczyć m.in.: przemyt i nielegalny handel chronionymi gatunkami fauny i flory (tzw. przestępstwa CITES), przemyt i nielegalny obrót odpadami, zawłaszczanie nieruchomości szczególnie cennych dla światowego dziedzictwa przyrodniczego, zanieczyszczanie ziemi, wód i powietrza, korupcję itd. Opracowanie zostało wzbogacone o część badawczą, w której autor przedstawia opinie studentów i policjantów Wyższej Szkoły Policji na temat realizowanych zajęć dydaktycznych z ekokryminologii.

Artykuł obejmuje m.in. przegląd definicji gangu i pojęć bliźniaczych oraz typologie i klasyfikacje analizowanych form przestępczych. Podjęte w artykule rozważania odnoszą się fenomenu klubów/gangów motocyklowych. Autor sygnalizuje szereg problemów praktycznych związanych z odróżnieniem wspomnianych struktur i podkreśla znaczenia znajomości etiologii zjawiska dla prawidłowej oceny prawnej zachowań utożsamianych z pojęciem gangu motocyklowego.

The study concerns the phenomenon of gangsterism. The author presents the problem from the social and criminological perspective. The article includes, among others, a review of gang definitions and twin concepts, as well as typologies and classifications of the analysed criminal forms. The considerations in the article refer to the phenomenon of motorcycle clubs/ gangs. The author signals a number of practical problems connected with distinguishing the above mentioned structures and stresses the importance of knowledge of the aetiology of the phenomenon for a proper legal assessment of behaviours associated with the concept of a motorcycle gang.
