“Compounding explosion” in modern Russian journalese discourse The author of the paper deals with compound words, which are one of active developing phenomena in the journalese texts. Researched material was excerpted from Russian specialized magazines published in 2010–2016. The number of compounds constantly increases. Most of them are borrowed from English or derived from foreign word-formation models. Neologisms, which contain minimum two components in their structure, are productive in journal discourse because of few reasons. The main aim of the analysis was to research the structure of compound words, to present lexical classification and to point out the reasons of popularity of compound words.

The article focuses on the problem of orthographic and graphic variants of English loanwords in modern Russian. The empirical material was excerpted from normative dictionaries and Russian glossy magazines. The main purpose of the studies was to define the reasons for different notation of anglicisms, to illustrate the types of orthographic and graphic variants, and also to indicate the most important issues of loanword codification in normative practice. Variation in writing is a dynamic phenomenon in Russian (ortho) graphy that requires lexicographical description as there are no separate rules of notation for loanwords.

STRUCTURAL-SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF RUSSIAN NAMES OF COSMETICS (ON PRESS ADVERTISEMENT IN WOMEN’S MAGAZINES) Summary The author of the paper deals with structural and semantic characteristic of names of cos-metics used in modern Russian language. The findings indicate that analyzed vocabulary make up a very interesting and internally diverse structural group. The contemporary names of cosmetics are represented by simple words and compound words (appositional sequences of two nouns). But the most productive types of structure of names of cosmetics are multi-verbs, composed from few words. The reason for popularity of ana-lytical names is that they generally specify the detail of cosmetics, what helps the customer to choose preferable product.

It is observed that the English contribution to the vocabulary of modern Russian has strongly increased over the last decades. The main purpose of this article is to explain most important reasons of the process of lexical borrowing by Russian language. Researched vocabulary was selected from modern women’s magazines, such as Elle, Glamour, Mini, Cosmopolitan. Studies have shown that new English words come into Russian mainly as a result from the need to define a new referent. The large number of anglicisms is explained by international culture exchange, influence of linguistic fashion, the need to specialize terms, etc.

The focus of this paper is the impact of English observed in the language of an international magazine Cosmopolitan. The research was conducted taking into account three language versions of the monthly magazine: Russian, Polish and Spanish. Factual material was excerpted from the periodicals published in 2017–2021. Taking up this topic stems from the need to fill the gap in research on the language of luxury magazines, which have a great influence on forming the canons of linguistic norms and the linguistic awareness of their readers. The aim of the study is to analyze the collected Anglicisms (mainly loanwoard) in terms of their function, way of adaptation and presentation in the text space. Determining the reasons for the popularity of foreign forms in a given language space is also an important point of analysis. An additional assumption of the publication is to indicate the connections between the use of borrowings and the ideological concept of the magazine with cosmopolitanism.
