The aim of this article is to analyse the press coverage about scientific activities and financial condition of the Danzig Research Society published in the critical and literary periodical “Thornische Nachrichten von gelehrten Sachen” between 1762–1766. The analysis enables the observation of the information transfer between Toruń and Gdańsk in the 18th century. It also allows to reconstruct the scholarly network created by the Danzig Research Society in the Royal Prussia region and outside of it.

Sieć kontaktów naukowych w świetle prasy. Czasopismo „Thornische Nachrichten von gelehrten Sachen“ (1762–1766) o Towarzystwie Przyrodniczym w Gdańsku Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza relacji prasowych dotyczących działalności naukowej i kondycji finansowej Towarzystwa Przyrodniczego w Gdańsku ukazujących się na łamach periodyku krytyczno-literackiego „Thornische Nachrichten von gelehrten Sachen“ wydawanego w Toruniu w latach 1762–1766. Analiza pozwala na obserwację transferu informacji między Toruniem i Gdańskiem w XVIII wieku oraz rekonstrukcję sieci kontaktów naukowych utrzymywanych przez gdańskie Towarzystwo Przyrodnicze na terenie Prus Królewskich oraz poza nimi.

This article deals with the subject of the reception of periodic press in Royal Prussia in the most authoritative histories of the Polish press in the 18th century. Although the newspapers and periodicals of that region make up c. 25% of the total output of the press published in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, they have been ignored or at best marginalized, even in the most comprehensive and broadly-based studies.

The aim of this article is to analyse the review of Gdańsk ethical, theological and scientific magazines („Sammlungen vor den Geist und vor das Herz“, „Der Kranke“, „Theologische Berichte“, „Neue Predigerbibliothek“, „Beyträge zur neuern Staats‑ und Kriegsgeschichte“) published in the critical and literary periodical from Toruń „Thornische Nachrichten von gelehrten Sachen“ between 1762–1766. The analysis allows to propose a thesis about the modernity of the Toruń magazine, which is noticeable, among others, in references to the valid 18th century German models and standards of press review. It also makes it possible to observe the transfer of information between Toruń and Gdańsk as well as the reception of Enlightenment ideas in both cities.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza recenzji gdańskich czasopism moralnych, teologicznych oraz naukowych („Sammlungen vor den Geist und vor das Herz“, „Der Kranke“, „Theologische Berichte“, „Neue Predigerbibliothek“, „Beyträge zur neuern Staats‑ und Kriegsgeschichte“) ukazujących się na łamach toruńskiego periodyku krytyczno‑literackiego „Thornische Nachrichten von gelehrten Sachen“ w latach 1762–1766. Analiza pozwala wysunąć tezę o nowoczesności toruńskiego czasopisma, widocznej m.in. w odniesieniach do aktualnych XVIII‑wiecznych niemieckich wzorców i standardów recenzji prasowej. Umożliwia również obserwację transferu informacji między Toruniem i Gdańskiem oraz recepcji idei oświeceniowych w obu miastach.
