The article addresses the problem of diversity management. The paper presents the most important issues in this field, with particular emphasis on the problems and threats associated with implementation of the diversity management concept. It has been demonstrated that the positive aspects of diversity management can not be specified alone as both the employees’ diversity itself and the idea of managing that diversity can evoke certain controversies.
Niniejszy artykuł jest poświęcony kwestii wiedzy, stanowiącej element kapitału ludzkiego. W opracowaniu przedstawiono więc jej rolę oraz powiązanie z innymi elementami tego kapitału. Wskazano także, iż wiedza może być zdobywana w różnorodny sposób, jednak przede wszystkim w procesie kształcenia, w tym kształcenia na poziomie studiów wyższych. Dlatego w artykule opisano poziom inwestycji w szkolnictwo wyższe w Polsce, jak również rezultaty tych inwestycji w postaci poziomu wykształcenia społeczeństwa polskiego.

The paper concerns the issue of knowledge – a constituent of human capital. The author explores the role of knowledge and its connections with other elements of human capital. It is pointed out that although knowledge can be obtained in various ways, the formal education process, including university education, is the most significant of these. This is why the paper discusses the question of expenditure on higher education in Poland and the results of these investments, namely the educational level of the Polish society.
Kapitał ludzki stanowi podstawę rozwoju całych gospodarek i poszczególnych przedsiębiorstw. Jego poziom może rzutować między innymi na innowacyjność i konkurencyjność podmiotów gospodarczych. Dlatego tak ważne jest wspieranie jego rozwoju na każdym szczeblu, tzn. na szczeblu: jednostki ludzkiej, organizacji, jak i całego społeczeństwa. W tym obszarze duże znaczenie mają fundusze unijne, dzięki którym od lat są finansowane działania z zakresu podnoszenia poziomu kapitału ludzkiego. Nowa perspektywa finansowania 2014-2020 również przewiduje koncentrację na tym zagadnieniu. W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe informacje o kapitale ludzkim oraz miejsce działań nakierowanych na kapitał ludzki w nowej, unijnej perspektywie.

Human capital is the foundation of development, both for national economies and specific businesses. It can affect innovativeness and competitiveness of all entities. That is why it is so vital to support its development on every level. The European Union funds play a considerable role in this regard – thanks to them, numerous human capital development activities have been possible. The new financial perspective 2014-2020 is also going to focus on the issue of human capital. The paper presents basic information about human capital and the significance of the activities concerning human capital in the new European budget.
Turbulent environment is a source of uncertainty for every company in all areas of activity. Uncertainty then creates risk, which can lead to crises or even to the collapse of the firm. One of the fields affected by risk is human relations management. The risk connected with this area is called personal risk. The aim of the article is to define what personal risk is and what consequences are associated with it, as well as to present a tool which can be used to reduce the level of personal risk. According to the author, personal controlling is such a tool.
Corporate social responsibility has been widely discussed and analyzed from the business perspective for several decades. The changes and challenges that universities have had to face during this time made them begin to undertake, with varying degrees of awareness, socially responsible actions. The aim of the paper is to present the issue of university social responsibility and attempt to evaluate whether the activities undertaken by the Faculty of Economics and Management at the University of Bialystok can be regarded as socially responsible ones. The analysis of the actions taken by this institution leads to the conclusion that despite the lack of a formally developed concept of social responsibility, the Faculty engages in a number of pro-social activities.
Corporate Social Responsibility is a concept which, although it is developing for many years, it is constantly improved in both terms – theoretical and practical. In theory area are creating new definitions and new areas for action shots and in practice area are sought new instruments that could be used in pro-social activities. In this way, more and more expanding a set of tools that are available for socially responsible companies. In this article will be discuss the eco-labeling, which is an instrument belonging to the traditional set of activities in the framework of CSR. Eco-labeling is relatively poorly described issue in literature. In practical area, we can also find deficiencies. Analyzing the areas of corporate social responsibility calculated by ISO 26000, eco-labeling can be included into the area of the environment, fair operating practices and consumer issues. This shows how multi-dimensional issue is the use of eco-labeling. This fact creates the possibility of assessing this practices of different points of view - companies , consumers and the environment. The purpose of this article is to identify opportunities and risks associated with the use of ecolabelling as a tool of CSR. In this article the authors will show that the activity in the area of eco-labeling not only builds the image of a socially responsible company, but also translates to specific business benefits. In addition, the authors will attempt to assess the proportion of customers for products marked with eco-labeling. Analysis of the problem will be based on the available literature in the field of corporate social responsibility, marketing, sustainable development and environmental protection.
In both theory and practice, it is emphasised that engaging in CSR actions brings many benefits to companies. One of the commonly listed advantages is more trust from investors, which enables the achievement of superior returns from securities issued by socially responsible firms. The paper endeavours to investigate whether this benefit can be also noticed among businesses in the Polish index of socially responsible companies RESPECT. The study involves firms included in the RESPECT index from its inception (November 2011) to the end of 2015. The authors compared the RESPECT index with selected Polish market indices between 2009 and 2015. Empirical studies, based on an analysis of returns, risk, dividend yields and shareholder structure, facilitated the assessment of the attractiveness of investments in the shares of socially responsible businesses against the background of other firms quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
