The cognitive load is believed to cause mental fatigue, moreover recent studies suggest that it could also results in better performance of the following task. The purpose of two presented studies was to examine the cognitive load influence on controlled (C) and automatic (U) influences of memory in word-stem completion task. After memorization of words list participants were asked to complete stems under process dissociation procedure conditions. To examine the time effects of cognitive load participants performed the arithmetic task for 5, 10, 15 or 30 min before word-stem completion task. The results of the experiments indicate that the cognitive load for 10 - 15 min results in more accurate completion in C influence. The results of U influence stays intact in E1, but E2 indicate lower U influence for grups performed the arithmetic task for 10 -15 min.The conclusions about the mental fatigue and warm-up effects on implicit and explicit memory were presented. The results are also analyzed regarding the implicit and explicit memory dissotiation .

The aim of the studies was to assess the role of perceptual and introspective consciousness in implicit learning process measured by the artificial grammar learning task. Two experiments using artificial grammar learning paradigm were conducted. The presentation time during acquisition phase was manipulated. First experiment showed that perceptual consciousness of stimuli is the necessary condition for acquiring tacit knowledge about letter strings. It also suggests that introspective consciousness could be necessary for the implicit knowledge acquisition. Second experiment showed that participants acquired different kind of knowledge depending on presentation time of letter strings confirming that both perceptual and introspective consciousness influence the results of artificial grammar learning. The results of the studies indicate that perceptual and introspective consciousness are necessary conditions for forming implicit and abstract knowledge in artificial grammar learning task. The results are incoherent with the assumptions of evolutionary theory of implicit knowledge acquisition suggesting necessity of its modification.

The aim of the paper was to discuss the accuracy of the multiple indexes used for random sequences generation results calculation. In the first part of the paper the models explaining deviations from randomness were presented. The key role of the structural limitations interpretation was suggested. Secondly, the multiple indexes of the deviation from randomness used in random sequence generation task studies were presented. The authors concluded that too many indexes are used in the studies of deviation from randomness. In order to avoid such problems two indexes were proposed: entropy and correlation function. The last part of the paper presents the preliminary version of the mathematical of random sequences generation in which the limited capacity of the short-term memory assumption was introduced.
