Celem pracy była weryfikacja poglądu niektórych badaczy poziomu i jakości życia polskiego społeczeństwa, reprezentujących przede wszystkim psychologię pozytywną oraz socjologię, ale również ekonomistów, badaczy efektów konsumpcjonizmu, że posiadanie rzeczy materialnych jest od kilkunastu lat w Polsce ważnym źródłem subiektywnie ocenianej jakości życia. Pogląd ten został zweryfikowany w odniesieniu do przedstawicieli kształtującej się w naszym kraju klasy wyższej na podstawie wyników empirycznego badania w 2012 r. Analiza rozkładów odpowiedzi potwierdziła ten pogląd.

The goal of the paper is verification of opinion presented by some researchers performing studies on level and quality of life, who represent not only positive psychology and sociology, but also economy domains, who studied effects of consumptionism, showing that in Poland, since a dozen or so years, the possession of material goods becomes an important source of positively evaluated quality of life. Verification of this opinion related to representatives of upper class being emerging in Poland was performed on the base of empirical researches conducted in 2012. Analysis of answers distributions has confirmed that opinion.
