Since 1882 sisters of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth have been working in Zielona Góra. The aim of the article is to analyse the phenomenon of the piety of their patroness, St. Elizabeth of Hungary (1207-1231) as presented in the so-called Statements of the Four Handmaids. The material under discussion is the collection of depositions made in January 1235 during the landgravine’s canonization process by her former ladies-in-waiting (Guda, Isentrud) and her companions in the religious community in St. Francis’ hospital in Marburg (Elizabeth, Irmingard). The picture of Elizabeth’s piety varies from simple gestures (e.g. genuflections) to more sophisticated forms, like prayers attributed to the saint herself, mortifications, acts of contemplation and mystical unity with God. The literary analysis of the text is supplemented by reproductions of the works of art related to the topic.

Od 1882 roku w Zielonej Górze posługują siostry elżbietanki. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie form życia duchowego ich patronki św. Elżbiety Węgierskiej (1207-1231) w świetle zeznań jej towarzyszek (Gudy, Izentrudy, Elżbiety i Irmingardy) złożonych w trakcie procesu kanonizacyjnego (styczeń 1235). Zachowane świadectwa, składające się na tzw. Wypowiedzi czterech służących (Dicta quattuor ancilarum) świadczą o ewolucji praktyk pobożności bohaterki – od gestów poprzez modlitwy ustne, umartwienia, kontemplację, doświadczenia mistyczne. Tekst uzupełniają reprodukcje dzieł malarstwa powiązanych z analizowanym zagadnieniem.
