The study focuses on the demographic changes expected in Poland by 2050 and their impact on the labour market. The forecasts indicate a significant loss of potential labour resources, their aging and the increase in the burden on those resources from the non-productive population. This situation may trigger a num­ber of threats to the labour market and the economy, including the occurrence of labour shortages, weak­ening of competitiveness and economic growth. Previous socio-demographic statistics, however, point to the complexity of the relationship between demography and the labour market, and they discourage sim­plistic conclusions regarding the nature of these links in the future.

The paper presents changes in the solutions of unemployment benefit, introduced in Poland in the years 1990-2013. The author has also undertaken an attempt at determining the influence of these changes on the realization of the income and motivation function of this allowance. As it results from the analysis carried out, in the study period a gradual tightening of the conditions of qualification for the benefit as well as principles for granting the allowance were observed. Consecutive legal regulations led to a limitation in the income function of the benefit and an increase in its motivation function.

Zasadniczym przedmiotem opracowania jest analiza postaw i zachowań reprezentowanych na rynku pracy przez młodzież kończącą szkoły wyższe. Autorzy omawiają aktywność zarobkową studentów oraz zadeklarowane przez nich plany zawodowe po zakończeniu studiów. Głównym źródłem informacji na ten temat były wyniki własnych badań ankietowych, przeprowadzonych wśród studentów ostatniego roku studiów stacjonarnych drugiego stopnia w wybranych szkołach wyższych ośrodków akademickich Wrocławia, Opola i Katowic. Tłem do omówienia i skomentowania wyników tych badań jest przeprowadzona przez autorów charakterystyka dotychczasowej sytuacji osób z wykształceniem wyższym na polskim rynku pracy oraz jej złożonych uwarunkowań. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika m.in., że studenci często łączą naukę z pracą zawodową, a także dysponują praktycznym doświadczeniem zawodowym oraz orientują się w realiach rynku pracy.
