The presented text is an analysis of materiality of memory in Elżbieta Janicka's book Festung Warschau. The text presents two approaches of defying the relation between space and memory. The first approach is related to searching for past signs, while the second approach uncovers past traces. In the studied book each approach is bonded to a different narration style. Furthermore, the presented text conceptualizes the city space of Warsaw, created by Janicka, as a space of memory (S. Kapralski's term).

This article is a review of the book titled Green Architecture by James Wines. The reflection of an American architect is an inspiration to consider how to create a living environment in harmony with nature. On the one hand, the author of this text tries to examine several examples of interaction between architecture, ecology and philosophy. On the other hand, she tries to respond to Wines’s ideas and to point out some questionable aspects of his project.

The article analyses the ways in which Sylwia Chutnik uses the category of space to break cognitive schemes and stop the reproduction of discourses which support them. Thanks to “anthropological shift of perspective” (T. Rakowski), warm irony and empathy the author of Pocket Atlas of Women (Kieszonkowy atlas kobiet) shows the lives of people “without a voice” and their inner world full of existential tensions. At the same time, the narrative strategy of Chutnik supports undermining and reinterpreting of the dominant cultural patterns, explores the phenomenon of exclusion and looking for points of subversive character that enables to go beyond fossilized and objectified paradigms.
