Mastektomia i co dalej? – funkcjonowanie kobiet po leczeniu choroby nowotworowej

Regardless of age, mastectomy is for a woman very difficult and intimate experience. Until recently, breast cancer and breast amputation were taboo. Nowadays, threats which are connected with cancer of this location are being discussed more often. Therefore, due to the latest ways of treatment the survival of women who suffer from breast cancer has been undoubtedly higher. Nevertheless, quality of their life after treatment varies greatly. The aim of the article is to set (on the basis of own study) how the life of the woman after breast amputation changes: what problems they have in everyday life and finally how they perceive their future.

Mastektomia bez względu na wiek jest dla kobiety przeżyciem trudnym i niezwykle intymnym. Do niedawna rak piersi i zabieg amputacji stanowiły swoistego rodzaju temat tabu. Dziś coraz częściej mówi się o zagrożeniach jakie pociąga za sobą nowotwór o tego rodzaju umiejscowieniu. W związku z coraz to nowszymi sposobami leczenia przeżywalność kobiet chorujących na nowotwór piersi jest niewątpliwie większa, jednak ich jakość życia po leczeniu jest swoiście różna. Celem pracy jest ustalenie (w oparciu o badania własne), jak zmienia się życie kobiet po zabiegu amputacji piersi: z jakimi problemami najczęściej zmagają się w codziennym funkcjonowaniu, jak oceniają swoją aktualną sytuacje życiową, i wreszcie – jak postrzegają własną przyszłość.
